Does anyone know if I can replace the fuel quantity sending unit with the fuel tank installed on my 1975 308 Dino GT4. I've got the unit loose and about half way out but a small tab for the float is preventing removal. The unit wants too come straight out but with tank installed you can't do that. I REALLY don't want to remove the tank, maybe loosen the tank somehow? Thanks for any info.

Good news I figured it out. You have to bend a little tab on the potentiometer and remove it from the metal part of the unit. Came out ok but going back in with the new one is going to be very tricky. Wish me luck

I don't know about the GT4, but I have read that on the GTB/S, you remove the ignition coils on the driver's side frame and the fuel level sending unit will come right out. If it will 'come right out' it should 'go right back in.'

Again, have no idea if this translates to the GT4 or not, but it might be worth a shot.
