New problem with my 2v, 1980...

When tank gets below halfway, needle drops to 0. Clearly a sensor. Anyone know where to get one and how easy they are to replace and set? I'm a novice wrencher. just did Birdman fuse boxes and hazard switch. Looking for my next fix.

    Thanks in advance

It COULD be the gauge. You could spoof the signal with a potentiometer connected up to the wiring at the tank. We could figure out what wires needed to go where. Not likely the problem.

If you don't mind taking the car out of service for a few extra days, pull the sender out and you can move the float arm up & down with the output terminals connected to a multimeter. You're likely to find that there's crud or oxidation built up on the last half of the non-moving element, and that you can scuff it up a bit and restore proper function. If that doesn't do it, then go ahead and start ordering parts.

Thanks for your advice Don. Dumb question... Where do I find the sensor? Not even sure where to look.
