Just in time for the winter time hibernation the fuel tank flap started to fail, first it worked when I fliped the switch a couple of times next time I only hear some clicking now its silent.
    Any tips on fixing?

Do not recall seeing that repaired lately.

It will be interesting to follow when more knowledgeable people chime in.

Is that controlled by a relay or direct from the switch? If a relay it could just be sticking or has gone kaput (or whatever the Italian version of that is). :)

Check fuse 1st. If this is ok I am almost certain it will be the solenoid mechanism. I had one fail on my old 348. It is the whole assembly located at the fuel flap. Basically it is a plunger with an electro magnet. When you press the button it energises the coil and pulls the plunger thus allowing the flap to open via spring pressure.

PS Do you know there is a remote release for the fuel flap in the engine bay? This is designed to get you out of trouble in just such a failure.

Unfortunately I do not know of any option other than the Ferrari part. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a solution as this part is hell expensive!

PPS easy way to check is to pull wiring plug on flap and check its getting voltage with volt meter when you press the release switch (get a friend to push switch whilst you operate volt meter). It should just get a quick 12v pulse whilst the button is depressed. If no voltage is present you have wiring issue. You can also put 12v straight to the solenoid and see if it works. But be carefull not to short anything out if you choose this method.

    Good luck.

Quality! Yes we all suffer from "brain fade" at times. Good that you quickly realised the error of your ways!

Interestingly, the German word "kaput" or "kaputt" is in common use here in Italy.

I don't have real statistics, but from the way I hear it used I would imagine the word is known to Italians in about the same percentage that it's known to Americans; i.e. most people.
