I am fairly confident that my carbs are not getting fuel because of a failing fuel pump. However, a friend of mine SAW A CLOGGED UP FUEL SOCK AS A PROBLEM ON A PORSCHE SOME YEARS AGO. NOW, LIKE A HAMMER THAT SEES EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD AS A NAIL. HE BELIEVES THAT THAT'S MY PROBLEM. HAS ANYBODY SEEN THIS? IS IT SOMETHING I SHOULD DO SINCE I WILL HAVE THE PUMP OUT ANYWAY? Thanks, Steve.

it is an easy remove to inspect, why guess or crowdsourced opinions?
U can still buy them I got a Rutlands one rather than plating my old one. Remove it, evaluate and replace if necessary.

Also the great time to flush that tank too

Had a similar job on my old 911 - while in there do it all, you’ll only regret it / worry about it otherwise!

I haven't scoped it out yet, but do you approach the sock from below? I would think so, but maybe from above? Any tips or pearls of wisdom
    thanks steve
(yes, I decided to replace the sock while we're doing this, so I'm headed out there to drain the tank)

OK, I ordered the fuel tank filter sock from GT car parts. Bill said that it's best to afix it with a bit of JB Weld. Any other thoughts? thanx s

The filter that I'm thinking of screws into the bottom, and is a plastic cage with mesh.

AFAIK those are no longer available which is why I replaced mine with a sock.

Did you find the OEM part somewhere?

Why not use a real sealant not just epoxy which can separate in heat expansion?
I prefer Permatex Ultra Fuel Resistant sealant.

Any time I hear JB Weld I suspect 1) Humour 2) Sarcasm

No Texan worth the **** on his boots, would use anything but JB Weld. But, do you have a part number you have in mind? A lot of permatex products are fuel resistant. thanx s

you has a choice of colors, But it should come with a gasket

Seriously, JB Weld will NOT expand when you go driving the hot Texas day and the fuel tank has a wide temperature range that day. I fear leakings for you and fuel shall not be trifled with
