I saw this at Pocono, it has twin turbos but these scoops look like they stole them from a Pizza Oven, WTF were they thinking ?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
they could've colored it with crayons to make that look better.....i will never know why poeple do things like that....
I guess those stacks plug right into the airfilters. They may be using the air from the side ducts for cooling the engine compartment. It would be great to see how it performed around a track.
The car was there for testing to bad it rained. It's is all done and painted looks grate and 500whp feels better. I drove it. The car will be at lime rock next week
Those scoops are also in an area where there is LESS than atmospheric pressure. So unless they are for drawing air OUT of the engine, they are gonna decrease performance. The Aussie TT 355 puts out more power (600+), is proven, and has no fugly bits. Kudos however to anyone who TTs a Ferrari, ugly or otherwise.... Dave
Do you know how turbos work? The scoops are for the air to air intercoolers. There's also a water to air kit. they both are on factory remaped ecus not motec
The scoops are pointing forwards into a bit of turbulent airflow, but the opening is smack bang in the middle of the area where the there is negative air pressure at speed - that's why they put a huge wing on the 355 CH and not on the 360 (the 360 does not have the "void"). So yes, I know how turbos work, but I also know that an air to air intercooler requires AIRFLOW across the cooler to actually work. If the scoops were higher or relocated to be in the airflow then it would most likely be more efficient. An option may have been to have an air inlet in the wheel well, and vent the air through some slots cut in the rear of the fender like the 288GTO. Slots like that would not draw calls of "fugly" but also are a Ferrari "trademark" from the 250GTO. There is also a 308 or 328 that is TTed that has the most ghastly looking scoops going up onto the back of the roof. IMHO amazingly ugly, but I bet the IC's get some serious airflow at speed. As I said before, kudos to anyone who TTs a Ferrari. If I had the time and $$$ I'd TT my 355 in a heartbeat. I would not want to incorporate scoops of questionable functionality and poor aesthetics however. Dave
Dave the scoops on this 355 are very efficient. The outlet temp out the coolers is no more the 100*F the inlet is around 200*F. The water to air kit has no scoops . We have done some turbo 360s and right now working on a turbo 360 stradalle. We have in house dyno and software to remap the ferraris. What about 360 GT? It's a gigantic wing. Lots of 360 Challenges are showing up now with the GT wing and front splitter set-up; the rear wing adds downforce (which, I might add, isn't disrupted like the ground effect from the diffuser when the car gets light cresting a hill), and the front splitter balances it out. vty, --Dennis
on the slutmobile it has scoops just before the edge of the rear lid, I'm not wild of that as I think it may lift the tail a little at speed. I'd like to relocate the intercoolers into the door openings in front of the radiators Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man I love that car If you ever want to sell it, add me to the no doubt very long list of interested folk....
