I have Koenig TRs in 1/16 by both Revell & Fujimi. Going to get them built as replicas of my race car.

Does anyone know if this is the same kit ? Did Fujimi make these for Revell ?

I opened both boxes, I already sent the Fujimi off to be built, so they arent side by side

The Fujimi had much better packaging w bubble wrap & the body of the car is white in F & red in R

    Thanks

I recently saw a Revell kit for sale on Ebay and the seller stated that it was made by Fujimi and re-packaged for Revell - couldn't say for certain though.
Normally Fujimi are much higher quality than Revell.

Fujimi is usually definately better than Revel, but i could easily see this being a repackaged model. The easiest way to tell would be to compare side by side, but since you've already sent it out, you may never know for certain if its the same model.

be sure to post some pics when its all done william. those will look great.
do you have any models of the slutmobile? I'm pretty sure a drop top version was made.

The Revell 1:16 Twin Turbo Testarossa is a reboxed Fujimi kit. I have both and they're identical. I haven't done a direct comparison of the plastic used so it's possible the Revell version may be of a different quality plastic than the original Fujimi version. The Fujimi's did have somewhat brittle plastic and were know for warpage right out of the box.

FYI, Revell sold several reboxed Fujimi 1:16 kits, and so did Testors. Here's the list from what I can remember (I actually have most of these in either the original Fujimi, Revell or Testors versions).
    Note: All 1:16 scale
    Ferrari 512BB (reboxed by Revell)
Ferrari Twin Turbo Testarossa (reboxed by Revell)
    Ferrari 288GTO (reboxed by Testors)
Lamborghini Countach (reboxed by both Revell and Testors)
    Porsche 959 (reboxed by Testors)

Testors also released a 1:16 F40, with all opening parts. I believe this was a reboxed Italeri kit. The 1:16 Fujimi F40 does not have an opening front section.

One warning about both the Revell and Testors kits. The boxes they used were of really cheap cardboard, and tended to collapse and unglue at the corners with age. There weren't any internal reinforcements as there were in the Fujimi boxes, so warped and broken rood pillars, cracked roofs, etc, are common problems. This is aggravated by the quality of plastic used. Fujimi's versions didn't suffer from this as much only because their boxes had more internal reinforcement.

In addition to this the Testors kits used boxes way bigger than they needed to. They used two smaller boxes side by side inside one big sleeve. Typically the body, tires and instructions would be in one and the rest of the parts tress in the other. I've been able to repackage the Testors kits into one box, essentially half the volume they used.

If you're not concerned about the boxes you can find the Testors kits in plastic bagged versions. A decade or two ago Testors apparently had a bunch of left over stock and decided to blow out these kits packaged just in plastic bags. These pop out all the time on eBay and go for bargain basement prices, but there is a greater risk of damage, especially to the body section. For example I picked up a Testors 1:16 F40 for $7US off eBay about 3 weeks ago. Shipping cost more than the kit.

    Hope this helped.
