I remember reading somewhere that the royal family has had to curtail their spending habits, or that the Sultan was cut off, something along those lines which would explain the lack of the most recent supercars.

brunei greatest source of wealth has been oil.

i am uncertain how much of the original reserves still exist.

the talk of the car collections (although lingering here) stopped years ago, which is why you don't see much of anything in the last 6-8 years. most of the "custom" cars were comissioned by prince jefri, the sultan's brother. after receiving very poor financial advice, the brunei money was heavily invested in very risky financial deals, most of which fell through. at that point, most of the wealth of brunei was destroyed.

given the recent increase in oil prices, i do not know of the current (read in the last several months) status of the brunei wealth.

given this, many of the cars that are listed have been sold or are being sold, slowly but surely. keep in mind the previous brunei philosophy was to through them into the ocean. the brunei government used it's assets as collateral for many ventures. when the sultan went into receivership several years back, many assets were frozen and/or seized. clearly, the sultan wasn't living in poverty, but jefri's car collection was no longer what it had been and was no longer growing.

i have yet to see any credible evidince that the sultan several enzo's or even one for that matter. the best evidence of the turmoil is the 456 venice projects that have left brunei, or the fx project cars that have left brunei, or the............ that have left brunei.

Yes sadly most of these cars are sold. I believe he still has the 3 Mclaren LM editions. Including the 2 "black LMs" which are actually black with graphics and have never been caught on camera with only a few luck people ever to see them. So many of his cars are not known of due to the fact that his spending was under careful watch. That is not near the full list and the only list that is printed is from one garage. You will notice around 98 is when the spending stopped just read up on it. Its so interesting i have followed his spending and his cars for so long I can't get enough.

THIS is the definition of more money than brain cells. SURE!, I love all the cars too (well, not some of them), but this has become an obsessive disorder if I've ever seen one. Sure, I like NSX's too, but I don't need freaking 25 of the dang things!!!

BTW, how is the Brunei family "hard to deal with"???

His yellow road car, #014, is coming up for auction soon. It was for sale by SVAG for $1.8mm, but no takers. The condition it was in from Brunei was bad and it had a new interior done. The paint on the car is flaking right now and not in the best condition. A few of us here wonder how bad of a condition the other F1s are in. Very sad.

wait so am i missing something or does this guy really have about 350 bentleys? can someone begin to explain how this makes any sense? were there employees literally dedicated to building seemingly pointless bentleys for years on end?

I once saw a picture of it from the Guinness Book of World Records, largest estate, but I remember it being very blury, yet you could tell how big it was. He probably has enough space for a lot of those cars.

And if that Ducati Desmo is the new Desmosedici RR, that nuts. I'm thinking about getting a Yamaha R6 (sry to get off topic).

Does anyone know if he actually drives these cars or does someone else drive them? If it's only him, the mileage must be minimal.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that he had a bunch of the cars dumped into the ocean because there were too many to maintain, and they were basically rotting away.

i don't know that this is true. i am not aware of the current standard of living, but i know about 5 years ago, brunei had the highest standard of living per capita in the world. all brunei subjects had free education and healthcare and no taxes. granted, many countries may claim that, but to some degree the wealth was shared.
