I first saw this car around 2005 and while in basically good condition it had lived a life which involved it being sprayed red and was tired in some respects.

Long story short the prior owner embarked on a total nut and bolt restoration, this being done by South Africa's foremost expert in Ferrari restorations. The restoration was complete, the engine needed a new crank and was rebuilt top to bottom, likewise the gearbox and new suspension was installed. The body was taken down to bare metal and taken back the original factory colour.

This colour divides opinion quite a lot.

A friend of mine was lucky to acquire the car after it was restored.

Apologies for the background in some of the picture. Builders in Africa...that's all I am going to say!

It was nice to include its sister in the one picture. The first naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari road car with the last.

Nice car, personally I like the color. It's refreshing to see colors other than red sometimes.

Congrats to the restorer and the new owner.

Thanks its a very late 1974 car and Classiche has been applied for. It goes very well and sounds great. Very different to a 308 QV!

Yes I guess, probably closer to a carb GTB.

That is a gorgeous colour on the GT4!

    Totally suits it's sharp edges.

Great color. It's nice to see what my car would look like if I went back to its original color. Wish mine had the Euro bumpers.

I could be wrong but the seat covers don't look original to me.

Love pino verde on a GT4! Twin distributors on a euro engine is something I have not seen before.

This is quite an early car, November 1974 production.

That's the same as mine, do you know the chassis number?

    It looks gorgeous.

The ribs on the centre panel of my seats go all the way to the front of the seat, which I think is more typical from what I've seen.

Temporary parking space. The pictures don't really indicated how steep the driveway is.

Fantastic colour - made me think "Hot Wheels" !

Overall it looks really great, but the wing mirrors...? I keep meaning to put some chrome finish small ones on my '74 GT4 (so about the same vintage as this one, no. 08964). I know we see all sorts of mirror arrangements but are those twin black ones original fitment?

That's a very good question. I don't actually know the answer but what I can say is Classiche has been applied for so lets see what detail they pick up....not that Classiche is the be all and end all.

Must be honest I am not very fond of these wing mirrors at all.

My very first thought as well!

At first I wasn't too taken with the color but then I started thinking how appropriate it was for the era. Besides, it's a lovely car in any color, and I think the interior/exterior contrast is quite nice.

I'm a big fan of the GT4 and it's a treat to see one so nicely presented.

The colour is quite era specific and must be honest I wasn't took taken with the colour either at first, I then drove the car and the amount of attention it gets quite amazing.

Wing mirrors need to change though, going to try and source a pair of chrome ones.

Interesting its amazing how carbs change the whole feel of the engine compared to a injected 308.

That color does not divide my opinion, not for me. But, nice restoration though.

I don't think the GT4 looks very good in red. Almost any other color works way better.

This car was red and I must admit it was probably a bit more "wow" in red. However its nice to have it back in factory spec.
