Well....Last Sunday while Schumi was blowing up his engine....Junior and I went out to Byron Dragway for the 12th Annual "World Wheelstanding Championships". It was our 3rd year. Again, it was a blast! And the Weather was absolutely gorgeous again...:)

I took over 200 pix, but thought that I'd share some of the funnier and neater ones. I'll break this up into a few posts.

First, check out the Racing Gas tank. They have 'Sunoco' from 104 Octane up to 116! And a gallon of the 116 will set you back $8.50 a gallon! "Fill 'er up!"....:)

Also, an old pile of Slicks....

And a Ford "Boss 429 Hemi" (Yup. Ford had 'em too!) bored out to 700 Cubic Inches!!! Wooooweeee!

Then, in the Parking Lot. We came across 2 "Boss Hoss" Motorcycles. One had a "Built" small Block, 350 Cu.In. Chevy engine with a mere 525 Horsepower.

The other one had a "Built" Big Block, 502 Cu.In. Chevy engine with Dual Nitrous. I asked him how much Horsepower his had. And he said "Up around 1000." Ho-lee sheee-it! Balls 'o steel!

Then, there was the "Worlds Fastest Outhouse". A Jet powered model. Kind of reminds me of being out all night drinking beer, then making a late night stop at "White Castle"....:)

Then, there was Rockfords own 'Rick Nielsen', Guitarist and Crazy Man from the Rock Band "Cheap Trick". He was there again with his Dual Hemi Powered Dragster called "Paris". Neato!!!

And, a few shots of the guys from the "Vertical Mischief" Stunt Motorcycle team. They had Sport Bikes and Dirt bikes.

Well, there were just way too many cool cars, and cool car Drag Race pairings to show. So, I will just post a few more.

First, who doesn't love a black '57 Chevy with Flames....?....:) How about one and it's son....:) (No...not my son...."it's own son"....:))

A Blown Chevette. Don't see one of those everyday. And there were a few Chevy Vega's with giant engines, too.

Last but not least....the Orange Gremlin, and the Orange Camaro. Both with ALL 4 Wheels OFF OF THE GROUND!!! The only contact was with their rear bumper to the asphalt! And they came down O.K. Must be an "orange thing"....:)

Some of those wheelies will make your hair stand up!!!....;)

Hey, did you go? That is one of the best events that we attend every year. Really, a fantastic day all around. Lots of families go, too.

Keep this website handy for next year: www.byrondragway.com

Also, you can order DVD's of the World Wheelstanding events, which they just started recording in 2004.

Actually, that is my Ferrari hat. I always keep one in my Van. Junior has 5 of them, but they are all in the house. He forgot his sunglasses that day, so I told him to wear the hat to keep the sun out of his teeny little eyeballs....:) Just doing the "Dad Thing"....:)
