I consider myself fortunate to have been to Sebring in 2000 as it was the start of the era of Audi R8 dominance and also one of the last opportunities to see a Ferrari 333SP racing competitively. One thing I'll never quite get is how a sport built around high technology and physical conditioning attracts the rednecks in such droves..
Why does Sebring actract the rednecks? Location. A racetrack in the middle of nowhere and they have always allowed camping, so over the history of the race it has truly evolved into a great big party weekend. Add rain and it gets even crazier... I live closer to Sebring, but tend to enjoy Daytona more.
