Funniest/Stupidest comments you have received about your Ferrari

While waiting on a red light, a woman driving a mustang ask if my 360 Spider is the newest mustang. I said, "Yes" sarcastically and she replied, "I'll have to trade mine in for one ...". Go figure.

Not surprised, as I have previously posted here that people have confused a 360 for a Hyundai Genesis.

 

I once had a guy tell me that my 250GT looks like an old Corvette!!!!

 

Municipal elections are coming up in a month, so the candidates for city council are pounding the pavement and knocking on as many doors as possible. I have a sign on my lawn for a candidate I like who also works with my wife. The sign does a good job of stopping the other wanna-be politicians from knocking on my door.

A few weekends back, I had the Ferrari out in the driveway while I worked in the garage. Soon, I noticed a candidate and his helpers working their way down the street. I happily noted it was not “my guy” so I didn’t worry about being approached. However, a young 20-something helper walks up the driveway and says he is representing one of the other candidates. He tells me he noticed my sign but really just wants to get a closer look at the car. I’m always happy to chat with fellow gear heads, so we stand in my driveway discussing cars.

After a while, an older guy (not the candidate, but probably the campaign manager) walks up the driveway. He says to the young guy, “Look, I know you want to check out the Porsche, but you need to get moving along”. The young guy and I look at each other and smile. Obviously he is a bit pissed the kid is wasting time. The old guy continues, “Yep, it’s a nice Porsche, but it’s time to go”. There’s a pause and the young guy says “It’s not a Porsche”. The older guy says “Huh, well what is it?”. The kid laughs at him. “It’s a Ferrari”. The confused look on the older guys face was priceless.

 

Clearly they are working for a Democrat.

 

I got "Nice Porsche!" with my 456M a few times. Often enough that I had a stock response: "Thanks! But it's a Ferrari!" Yep, double take every time.

 

While in my F12 at a traffic light I had a guy yell over from his Nissan Z, "How do you like the new 'vette?"
I said, "I love it!"

 

What he's really implying is that nowadays,all cars look the same.....

 

And then there’s Kia and Hyundai that seem to look like every car combined into one.

 

Brilliant. A neighbour coming over to tell you what car you own. Priceless.

I have the T-shirt but would like the cap too.

I think it makes them feel a little better.

"I have never seen a corvette like that!", I live in an area where Ferrari's are very uncommon.

I’m about tired of the “my friend has a (insert number from 1000-2000) horsepower (insert brand/model like charger, Supra, whatever) that would smoke your Ferrari!

I mean I’m sure there are plenty of modded street cars that are fast...but I’d like to meet the owners not all of their friends that ride passenger lol

If people are asses like that I just say something like 'maybe, but no one's looking at your charger / Supra / whatever.'

I work for a major car company. And while my car was being towed from work due to issues one of our service training people came out and asked "did you build it or was it a kit". He thought it was a fiero. So that was insulting. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Is that a kit car ? Why yes, I used all oem Ferrari parts, took me 2 years to put it together, you like ?
Is that a rental ? Why yes, I got it at "Enterprise rents Exotics" for $99 a day, you should try it !

 

You guys are way too sensitive, people are mostly just ignorant and have no intention to insult you with these "Mustang" comments/questions.
Just take it with humor and try to have some fun with it.
Back in 2007, a woman asked whether my 599 was a new Mustang and I replied in a hushed voice, looking around suspiciously, that the car was a secret Ford prototype and asked her to keep it a secret too.
She took it seriously and I was laughing to myself the rest of the day.

 

The person asking should be insulted to think it was a kit
