My daughter has a black/black 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera and says she hates when I meet her driving my nero/nero 1980 GTBi...Quote "Dad, when you're driving that thing nobody pays attention to my car!"

This comment has brought plenty of attention to my 456 as well…. Always with a smile, usually realizing that kid in it gets to grow up riding around in a Ferrari, long before he will remember it.

I used to take my son to hockey games in my 365 GT 2+2. The dads would just stare at the trunk speechless. This is him with the car when he was almost 6 in 2007. A photographer from a local paper saw him and thought it would make a good story.

I bet. The 911 is a beautiful, classic design, including the new ones - but next to a 308, they look relatively pedestrian.

Even from that little bit of the 308 visible, you get a sense of how big a modern 911 is compared to it.

    Long live the little Ferraris.

I agree, and here is the photo taken with both cars...It's hard to believe how small the 308 looks especially with the Campagnolo 14" wheels. My wife's Boxster towered over the 308 (my roof came up to the Boxster's window sill)...Thanks for replying.

I was thinking about that recently. I'm trying to think of my F-car as "just a car" when my daughter is riding in it; from her perspective, the only difference between it and our Chrysler Pacifica is the pano roof. The dozens of kids that lose their minds over our cars at shows and on the streets probably don't feel the same, however....

Sometimes I just like to look at different Ferraris online at work. A coworker saw me look and just literally said to me, "why do you keep looking at those cars? You can never afford one!" Another coworker who knew I have couple Ferraris plus a Lambo heard the whole thing. We both just did not say a word.

I then told this story to my children and they said I was cool af. That made my day! lol.

The people you work with don’t know you have Ferraris, et al? How is that possible? That seems quite devious to me actually. I mean it’s one thing to be humble but another to be that secretive. So you don’t ever drive them to work?

Unless, of course, you work for some huge company with tons of employees where you don’t even know many of their names… but if that were the case, one of those random strangers wouldn’t be looking over your shoulder at your computer and making personal statements/jokes like he did.

Silence is sometimes golden...At least no one is trying hit him up for a loan or expecting him to always pick up the check. He appears to be a very wise man or a latent recluse with a great taste in cars.

I like the silent part. For sure. I’m the same way but with coworkers, it’s just kind of hard to be that silent about something so common as what car you drive etc… it would actually require constant conscious effort to NOT disclose that. At least, in my jobs anyway. Cars are a common topic with people that close to you. No criticism at all; I just find it very interesting how he’s managed to do this.

oh super fair question. I would ask the same thing if I read the same post. I also realized some context is missing. I am a physician. My coworkers and I all work different shifts on different days, so we won't be able to see who drive what in the parking lot, but we can see what cars are parked. In the past I occasionally drove them, and that attracted some questions when someone who had nothing to do started seeing of my day and car parked. But this particular individual in my last post is known to be patronizing and arrogant and I think he really did not know what cars I have as that's just how he talks in general.

So yes, I am in a very easy position just denying because we all come and leave at different times. But recently when I started to daily the STO as I am selling the 458 and the 4c is getting some upgrades, it is getting really hard.

Haha. Awesome. I had something similar happen to me. A co-worker from a old group of mine saw me looking at Ferraris on Cargurus and said, "You can't be looking at those, you don't make that kind of money anymore". He had no clue I already had one. I didn't bother even correcting him. I just said, "You never know what may happen".

It's the same for me. Only a couple people at my place of employment know I have a Ferrari. A couple only know cause they caught me at the ATM one day in it. LOL. Most of my co-workers know I'm a Porsche owner cause I've had a Porsche lanyard on for a damn decade. LOL. I don't drive the Porsche to work and I NEVER EVER drive the Ferrari to work. That car just creates funny emotion out of people sometime. I just rather not deal with it. If they get to know me, then they will eventually find out. Outside of that, I'm just the dude with the Porsche lanyard. LOL

One of the craziest things I've ever heard or been asked was, "Is that a Mustang or a Ferrari?". I was in a blue F430. The gentlemen were in a pickup truck next to me at a traffic light. I had to laugh. My wife's facial expression was hilarious. I could hear the guy saying to the driver, "well it has a horse on it". I told him, "It's a Ferrari". Then I hear the drive say, "See, I told you!" LOL

Being blue collar, I kept mine a secret for 4 years. It wasn't easy with 3,000 people working in the building I do. I never posted it on social media either. A couple years ago I started posting it on social media and became more open about my viper project. A few weeks ago a co-worker came up to me and said how there is no way I'll be able to afford insurance on that viper. I smiled and said I know what it costs because it's my third one. He looked absolutely dumbfounded. He then went on to say how I should just hang onto a car and I replied by asking him how we was so sure I hadn't already, which brought an even more puzzled look.

About 50,000 people live in this town and there is only 1 other Ferrari I'm aware of. A lot of people get bent out of shape about it and say it's a waste of money. To me, It's not much different than the $70k trucks that pepper the parking lot at work. Neither see offroading. Only difference is mine doesn't depreciate. If that's the "cost" of being "foolish" I don't mind the label [emoji41]

I think I jinxed myself. Today my boss came up to me and said "I talked with my drummer today and he said that your Ferrari (360) is the boxster of Ferraris" which caught me a bit off guard. This was obviously a dilemma with a few options.

    I could

    A. Go on a rant explaining about how he is wrong and how the 360 is a pureblood mid engine v8 like its successors and predecessors

    B. Ignore the insult

    C. Tell him to let his drummer know that I called him a f****t and leave it at that. Then, whenever my boss shows me a new song his band made, let him know that it would sound better if his drummer spent more time focusing on the rhythm of the song and less time focusing on the rhythm of giving out hand jobs to old men in the YMCA locker room.

In this situation, C seemed like the appropriate choice.
