i dont really know what the premise was for the conversation, but all i heard was
"if a Ferrari blew up in front of my house i wouldnt cry but if a Lamborghini did i would cry my a$$ off"
at first i just gave them a look then i calmly explained to them that a Ferrari is defiantely something to cry over, (i didnt bother going into performace and what not b/c they wouldnt care). i walked away saying to myself "silly freshman and their attempts to be cool" lol just thought id share that with everyone

I pulled the Alfa Spider up to a stop sign next to a grade school a week or so back. One of the young kids pointed to it and exclaimed, "That's a real car!".
The teacher then explained, "Yes, it's a convertible." Gronk?

A couple of years ago, a group of teens examining the Ferrari commented, "Ooh, it's shiny". *sigh*

I've noticed that the very young go crazy over the Italian cars -- the styling, the heritage, etc. Teens try to act blase. Most adults have the "sour grapes" routine down pat.

Does our culture rob people of their sense of wonder and delight, as we get older?

Exceptional isn't cool. .. Competence is elitist. .. Freedom is slavery. .. Ketchup is a vegetable. ;)

I sometimes wish someone would explain to traffic on route 2 that there's a difference between egalitarianism and just hiding out in the middle of a crowd.

Is our culture teaching people to give up on their dreams, without even trying?

Our culture wants the govt to be a huge warm fuzzy Nanny. There are A Lot of people with little education, talent, skills, or imagination & PC wants these people to be seen which is fine but dont hold the real movers & shakers back.

The Brits who founded the 13 colonies were originally Puritans. there is still a large puritanical streak in the US. In puritanism pleasure or being ostentatious or even joy are seen as bad things so its no wonder why a lot of people are a bit messed up if they have that crrap in the sub conscience

The puritans were apparently not the kill joys that they are made out to be. Most of the misconceptions are from The Scarlet Letter, in which the author used artistic licence - actually he meant to poke fun at Victorian culture.

Anyway the Puritans failed because they believed in pre-destination and rigid religious ideals. Obviously, if everyone is supposed to be predestined to go Heaven/Hell, why bother trying to be good in the first place??? Ironically, the puritans became unitarians I believe.
