In my boredom, I decided to go back in this 458/488/F8 forum to a few years ago 2019/2020... just to read about the F8 threads etc.... I find it funny how MANY topics were started and comments were made talking about how they want an F8 (and I am quoting) but can't handle losing 50k/yr, how the F8 will lose 100k and more for sure in 3-4 years from then, how it's a great car but the depreciation is going to be terrible, the F8 will drop like crazy, and about 50 more comments of this nature..... but here we are, in reality, and the entire production run is already over and you can't find a used one for anything less than 30-40k+ over sticker. And that's the bottom, there are MANY and most are more like 50-70k over sticker still...... guess everyone missed that projection.... yes, I know no one predicted covid and inflation happening as it did but that has calmed down now and car pricing has already adjusted back down now... F8's in past couple years were 100k+ over sticker all day.... so, anyway, it was fun to go back and read and check predictions vs reality.

The 296, not a topic of conversation in the 2019/2020 timeframe you speak of, ultimately did wonders for the F8 valuations (as did COVID).

We defeated COVID. Unfortunately, the 296 survived.

There are 40% more US dollars in circulation. First time we've ever put 40% more in a two year stretch. Weird stuff has already happened. There may be more weird stuff to come.

Nobel prize winning economists call for inflation after we save all the banks with a lot of money. No inflation arrives for 14 years. Nobel prize winning economists then say we can send out checks to poor people and no inflation will ever arrive. Inflation shows up in about 18 months. None of us on this forum had a chance.

I agree and have been watching. I’m not Nostradamus but I felt and feel that F8 prices will hold strong and then go very UP within 2-3 years…. You know, the whole last V8, Final 8, non hybrid thing…. Like the 458 guys with their NA. Will wait n see

Strongly disagree. Big plus is a non-GPF NA V12 but I'm biased.

I agree with the V12 for sure but there is ZERO benefit to NA vs turbo anymore. Years ago yes, for sure... but now Turbo is just so much better.

    and yes, GPF sucks.... sigh

Low compression and huge replacement costs on those spinny things. Forced induction is cheap hp and easy to dial-up pressure. Go big or go home.

Well, I guess it’s not ‘cheap horsepower’ if the spinny things are ‘huge replacement cost’ lol— but ya, I hear what you’re saying. I love and appreciate both NA and twin turbo… of course, all their engines are amazing.

The good news is whether it’s NA or twin turbo, I think they’ll be more desirable than hybrid…. And the original point of the thread is I believe in 3-5 years time, we’ll see ALL the mid engine V8’s and V12’s go up in desirability and value….and they’ll ‘hold’ from now until then… Everything pre 296/SF90.

I think a lot of ICE cars will hold or increase in value once they make us all switch to electric cars. I have no intentions of selling my F8, it’s the last non hybrid, non electric, mid engined Ferrari.

I have no interest in a V6 and electric.

"They" will have no way to make us, now or in the future switch to electric cars. Not happening, no infrastructure, too costly, too harmful for the environment, they will ruin roads, etc. etc......just plain not good. They are now feeling the affects of what depreciation is, and that will only get worse. Now if liberals continue to destroy the country, then "they" could do it at great expense. Like you say, just keep your ICE vehicles and you'll be fine. I know thats what I will do. If you want to look to the future, hydrogen is the answer but not until the electric boondoggle is fully capitalized on.

This morning I dropped the F8 spider off for its first annual service, somehow I’ve managed 2,000 miles in a year, and I feel I’ve barely driven it. I have other cars which I drive (and track), including the 458 and the Challenge version (one hell of a Ferrari, btw), but the F8 has really grown on me.

I had it parked next to a 296, and for the first time I felt the 296 looked a bit soft for my tastes. But I’ve tested the car, and was impressed with its road manners and technology.

I can’t see selling the F8, as don’t know where I’d go from here. I’m not ready for a front engine car just yet.

Meanwhile, I see a fair number of STOs coming up used, and prices have softened a bit. I love the car, but I think for a lot of buyers it’s a bit too raw for those who were expecting a Ferrari-type feel.

    no. not even close.

they had everything handed to them by their WWII parents and then proceeded to utterly, totally, hopelessly screw everything up

democracy, privacy, capitalism, the planet, etc.

    you know, the little things.

Hydrogen is badass. How are you going to get longhaul, heavy vehicles around with electric? You can with Hydrogen. Think RV, and semis. They fill up almost as fast as diesel and gasoline.

anyway, like VJ said, we can continue this threads topic without political chatter. As well, hydrogen vs electric talk in another thread.

Looks alone, the F8 is hard to replace. Considering it’s the last V8, I think it will be cherished for a long time. Performance of the 296 is great, but there’s plenty of it to go around in the F8 already, and I don’t care much for the digital dash either.

everything you said 100%-- additionally, think of the countries bridges and their weight limits when the average electric car weighs 4500-6000 pounds instead of 2800-3800. Our bridges can't even handle that..... anyway, ya, that's another thread....

LONG LIVE THE BEAUTIFUL F8!!! - I'm telling you, it will go down as one of the best and it's going to be VERY desirable. :)
