Has anyone ever tested different priced filters in your home, and have found a difference?

Prices vary by quite a bit from the cheapest filters I have seen versus the more expensive ones, and I am wondering if anyone has found if the more expensive ones are worth the money.

After 10 years of using the cheapest filters I can find (the green cheapo mesh w/ cardboard frame type, $2), my registers and ducts still do not have lint balls or anything else in them. But I change them every couple of months. I had to change a blower motor and the assembly was still relatively clean in 2010.

IMO, it makes more difference to change them frequently rather than how fancy they are.
