I was wondering if the Mondial fuse box cover has a "clear" sticker on it that indicates the fuses and relay placement.

This is kinda hard to explain, but here goes:

I bought a replacement fuse box cover a while back from FoUK (mine was missing). It came complete with the above-mentioned sticker already stuck in place. BUT, the sticker seems to have some kind of white paper backing.

I tried to remove the backing paper gently several times from several locations on the sticker and it seems that this paper backing is actually part of the sticker. Every time, the black lettering, etc, came up with the paper. Is this making sense?

I gave up trying but it just seems to me that the "protective" paper backing should come off, leaving a clear label with black lettering behind.

I was thinking of maybe soaking it in water - the paper would get soggy and fall off, is my theory. I dunno.

What does yours look like? Can you see though it between the black lettering or are you staring at black letting on a white paper backing stuck to the cover?

Can you tell I gave up on the "making sense" part? I may have to resort to pictures to tell my story.

Here is a picture of a cover I found in the "Cheap... " thread that shows the infamous cover. (It just happens to be the very same picture that has brought on my maddness about the sticker to the forefront.)

Look between the two knurled screws that hold the cover in place. You can see the colored wiring beneath the clear cover. However, what I cannot see is if this cover has the sticker with the black lettering in place.

If this were my cover, you would see the white paper backing obscuring the "view" of the wiring.

Am I making more sense yet? Someone put me out of my misery.

Yes there is a "clear decal" for the lid. Rutland's has a couple of NOS decals left, and some new & used lids with decals installed.

Well, I took a look at it, AGAIN, for the 12th time and guess what I found...

It's backing paper and it peels off.

You just have to find a good location to get it started.

    I feel dumb now.

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.

4redude: Thanks for the tip on T Rutlands. The sticker, even though it was put on at (supposedly) the factory, looks like it could have been done about 99% better. If I had a dollar for every air bubble and bit of grit under the sticker I could afford to buy another car!
