Anyone have any tips on keeping the panel that covers the fuses/relays from falling off? This happens to me rather frequently and the girl swears she doesn't accidentally knock it off when she gets in/out of the car ;)

Seems like whomever engineered that attachment system was having a really bad day.

    Cheers,

Yeah, they're all pretty loose that way.

Make sure the right side is fully seated in the dash groove. The twist knob on the left will hold if you tighten it "just so"! Overtightening it will actually loosen it...

    Good luck,

    Aaron,
This happens in my '84 QV ALL THE DAMN TIME. I can't stand it. I finally folded and jammed a piece of paper in there to create some pressure and keep the panel in place and sort of hid it but obviously that's not the best solution. Mine is supposed to stay in place with an odd sort of plastic velcro (hard texture, not "soft" like common velcro). I think I'll end up just buying some normal velcro and adding it... (and by the way, I have no "twist knob on the right" that Greg is talking about -- Greg, could this be something on the older 308s only?)
Good luck and please share any solutions you come up with.

The 83 and 84 QVs are with the plastic pseudo-velcro, but they fixed that on the 85 models by adding some snap-knobs like are used to hold the targa cover.

Mike, thanks for the detail. Is there a a good after-market solution for this?

Also, on another note (and I apologize if there's already a thread on this), is your "Charness Harness" available for sale? Last time I spoke with Daniel at Ricambi, he mentioned that there was some discussion about having them made but I'm not sure that happened and I'm getting kinda tired of my extinguisher rolling around in front of the passenger seat as I drive (sorry to hijack the thread with this. You can PM me if you prefer.)

    Thanks!!

Yeah I don't have that twist knob that Greg speaks of either. I have the plasticky "velcro" stuff which SUCKS!!

I think I'll spend this weekend trying to come up with some sort of system that actually works! Of course when the worst problem on your Ferrari is a silly panel that won't stay attached, that's still a pretty good day!

    Cheers,

works great.....pretty wierd pseudo "velcro" used OEM.....I have heavy duty "real" velcro strips ( Home Depot) to do the change over, but I tell yah..the carboard jam really works very well ( and keeps the car OEM) so I don't bother.

...wondering, if we use Birdman's fuse panels does the outer cover still fit as original?

As Greg is trying to say the older ones seat in the RH slot and have a 1/4 turn fastner at the LH end.

Strangely my newer (still 1977) has a different style fastener. A slip latch clamps over a fixed ball and you just pull it straight out to release.

Both are OEM as far as I know...I'd replace the velcro, try a boat supply place as they have some for that application that is WAY tougher then the normal stuff....HTH

You don't want the whiskey bottle sliding around on the boat, after all....

Birdman's blocks are no larger but will not accept the lexan covers that have the legend on them......no matter as your 8A, 16A etc. will change to US sizes.

The fix is to copy it and glue above or something.....

I gave Daniel permission to make and sell them without royalty... he just needs to keep the name intact! I don't know if he's pursuing doing that or not.

That's what my '77 has too.

Yes, the Birdman fuseblocks fit fine under there.

    P.S. "Charness Harness!" :) I love it!
