I’m in the process of installing Guido’s replacement fusebox, and I have goofed. Can someone please confirm the order of the wires in the Y connector, from left to right when looking at the fusebox (i.e. towards the back of the car)? Mine is a 1988 Euro-spec car with KE-Jetronic and no cats or O2 sensors. I think it should be like this, but I need confirmation. CONNECTOR Y Leftmost wire = blue/white 2 = 2 wires, darker blue/white 3 = 2 wires, yellow/black 4 = 2 wires, red 5 = 2 wires, red 6 = pink/yellow 7 = 2 wires, yellow 8 = brown 9 = brown/black 10 = yellow 11 = yellow/black Thank you VERY MUCH in advance for any assistance! My confidence is lowest around pins 6 and 7. I’ve tried to read the wiring diagrams, but failed to make sense of them.
Jay, I have a few pictures..... Image Unavailable, Please Login My advice is to use a small wire going around each wire, one after one other to avoid this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That last picture is not from a TR, just illustrative.... TR wiring diagram tells me from left to right 1= AB Light blue striped white 2= BL Blue striped white 3= GN Yellow striped black 4= R Red 5= SG Pink striped yellow 6= G Yellow (this yellow is connected inside your fuse board with yellow of number 10, so it makes no different where you put 6 or 10) 7= P Beige 8= PN Beige striped black 9= B White 10= G yellow 11= GN yellow striped Black It could be that Beige is changed to Brown somewhere....
Thank you SO much. That is immensely helpful. I seem to have an extra, small-gauge yellow wire. I’m attaching a picture of what I have so far, which I know is not correct. (Note: in the photo, the fifth wire from the top is the wrong colour because I’ve replaced it; just ignore that) You can see I’ve put 2 yellows side-by-side in the middle. Your photos suggest that one of them should be paired with the pink/yellow wire rather than being on its own pin. But which yellow wire gets paired with pink/yellow and which goes on pin 6? One is fat and one is skinny. By your photos, I think the answer is “the fat yellow wire shares pin 5 with pink/yellow, while the skinny yellow wire is all by itself on pin 6.” Can you please confirm? I’m counting pins from left to right, inboard to outboard. Image Unavailable, Please Login
TR wiring diagram tells me 6 and 10 are 2.5 mm2 single yellow wires 5 is SG pink /yellow of 0.8 mm2 and G yellow of 0.8 mm2 together.
Image Unavailable, Please Login On this picture you see 5 is 2 wires with the same diameter...0.8mm2 so the thinner yellow goes with the pink on 5.The 2 thicker yellow wires of 2.5 mm2 going to 6 and 10. I think you have it correct from 6 to 11. Just 4 and 5 should be together.
Jay, I hope you make pictures of each white plastic plug with wires before removing those wires ! As back-up in case you mixed up those wires. Is there enough space to put those female connectors with the isolation on them ? If you want to check if that small yellow wire of nr 5 is the correct one, this wire plugs on the engine bonnet shock absorber....this wire is also connected to the right block of rear position, direction, stop and reverse lights.
I have been taking pictures and notes, but not perfect ones! On the Y connector especially, my photo wasn’t good enough and I lost track of where this one yellow wire goes. I’m pretty confident I’ve got it right now — attaching the small yellow wire to the same plug as the pink/yellow one — but I’ll do as you suggest and check continuity between the small yellow wire and the engine cover strut.
