Ive been hearing rumors that the Enzo replacement will be a twin turbo V8 and that F has even been thinking of building a hybrid

Porsche has announced a Cayenne hybrid and Lotus engineers built the Tesla electric car

So is this the end of F V12s for now ?

Ferrari will always have a V-12 in their line up because the factory's history was built with racing v-12s. That said, the future of Formula 1 has been dictated to involve the v-8 configuration , so all competition offshoots enginewise will be v-8 based, like the upcoming Ferrari F149. The next iteration 911 porsche (998) will most likely use a midengine v-8 taken from the Cayman, though that company is not presently involved in F1.

    There's always the GTs - 599, 612... I think their successors will remain V12.

Does anybody know the sales figure ration of the 430 variants vs. the 599,612...?

With the current brand marketing pragmatism of this management, I can see them keeping one image leader (aside from the inevitable supercar) and MAYBE letting it stay V12, but hardly two. Notice that they have nixed a spyder version of the 599 at last count. And if the Enzo II really is a twin-turbo, then the days may be numbered for even one such big Ferrari - they may want to at least claim some DNA matchup from the supercar, kind of like they do with the Enzo<>599.

But then, no less than Antoine Prunet had a chapter on the 1980s Boxer in his book that asked "The last big Ferrari?"

So, I guess all we can do is hope for the best - and buy up the best 456 or 550 that we can find while they are relatively cheap.

While the next supercar might be a tt v8 i dont see ferrari ever completely abandoning the v12. true what was said above they will always have the GTs, 599 612. personally i wouldnt mind if they took the next supercar and went in more of an F40 direction, with the tt and made a true drivers car. What are the odds though?

Isn't the F430 Scuderia the new image leader (until the next supercar after the Enzo)? I know the sticker prices on the 599/612 are higher, but frankly I never hear about them except on this site.

I hope Ferrari doesn't go hybrid. That doesn't feel like F1 technology trickle-down to me...

Frankly, I don't really care so long as it sounds like a Ferrari and not a Detroit lump!

There will be 2 "supercar sets"

    the 8's: 288 GTO, F40, F70
    the 12's: F50, Enzo

I will focus on the 8's

Word is Ferrari is working hard at reducing weights and smaller motors will probably be part of the equation. I read recently that Ferrari is developing both a TT V8 and a 12 for the Enzo successor and a decision has not been made yet. I do think there will be a front engine 12 in the model line as long as Luca is alive unless it is legislated out in some manner. I also wonder of the rumored V8 2+2 will actually end the slow selling 456-612 series.
