In light of the FF I would like to ask a question and perhaps create a poll with some assistance. The question is Future Shock or No Shock?

Witness Porsche. They introduced the Boxster before the coupe going against convention. Of course they were protecting their venerable bread winner.

Then a water cooled front engined four wheel drive SUV !!!

Setting the stage for the Panamara. Nice product line creation if not a pretty thing.

    It isn't.

So what does the future hold for Ferrari ??

    My prediction...

    FUTURE SHOCK !!!!!!!!!

    The future will be shocking.

    SHOCKING I TELL YOU !!!

Think hybrid crossovers with four electric motors at the corners.

Truly shocking is my opinion. What's yours? :)

Porsche has the best looking, coolest, nicest line of cars. Period.

Their hybrids? 918 and GT2RS Hybrid. Yeah, those are some sweet cars.

Ferrari will never enter the SUV market in my opinion. I hope the Enzo replacement is as cool as the 918.

2/3 of Porsche production is Panamera and Cayenne, they don´t call themself sportscar builders anymore, but builders of sporty cars.

    Oh Contraire.

911 GT3 RS best drivers car on the market

Cayenne one of the most versatile new SUV's on the planet with a fantastic interior and wonderful drivetrains.

Panamera, well that one is in the eye of the beholder, but they drive fantastically.

And yet, over the last 35 years, there have only been 3 that I accept would be seen in. {917 Gulf Prosche, 935, original 911 (1966)}.

Over this period of time, I would like to be seen in any of the mid engined Ferraris, and one ore tow front engined Ferraris.

    ----------------------------back to thread OP-------------------

I think motor (electrical) per wheel is the next thing in either 2 wheel or 4 wheel guise. It allows you to remove the transmission+clutch and all the horseplay therein. Engine drives generator, generator drives motors via electronic controls. Been done in trains for 50 years. Easiest entry device for KERS or <shudder> hybrid technology. Allows for infinitely variable transmission, and operation ofthe motor at the most fuel efficient point at all times.

Size mid engine diesel engine/generator for constant 100 mph to balance drag with on off charging battery for long runs at lower speeds to keep battery at 1/2 charge.
Size under floor batteries for 20-30 miles low speed cruise with first 15-20 electric mode.
Size each wheel motors for 3.0 sec 0-60.
Use traction control set for max cornering and acceleration.

Porsche played their cards very well somehow. I don't know how they did it, but every single person I know with a six figure income and up owns some form of Porsche. Every Ferrari owner I know, also has their trusty Porsche Turbo, GT3, or C2S that they drive when their Ferrari is in the shop.

Essentially what Porsche realized is that Porsche is the brand society's elite turn to when they need something practical, but still high end. That's the sports car market they served, why not the SUV, Sedan market?

Sure, Porsche will have trouble selling any form of 911 for $300k, but at the end of the day, ask almost any new Ferrari owner, and they'll tell you they love their Ferrari, but they can't sell their Porsche.

Porsche has built their cars into a necessity as opposed to a luxury, which I'm sure is doing very well for their bottom line.

*just a random addition, I actually was picking up a friend from the airport, and when I found out she had a large piece of checked luggage, I ended up taking my 911 Targa versus my SUV, because with the hatchback and fold down seats, it actually holds more:p I really hate SUV's, you get the storage of a small-sized sedan, the gas mileage of a Lamborghini, and the handling of a Minivan. Literally the worst of all worlds:p
