I was talking to a friend about the Bugatti Veyron being "the fastest, most evepensive car the world has seen" as quoted on Top Gear. He says that's not true and that the FXX is. But my question is, "is the FXX Street Legal?"

Multi-forum posting is frowned upon. The Veyron probably has a higher top speed and thus likely is faster than the FXX. I don't believe the FXX is street legal, defintley not in the US and probably not in Europe.

I believe reading somewhere on the forums that the FXX is electronically limited to a lower topspeed then the Enzo. Would anyone happen to know of any acceleration/braking times/distances? 0-60, 0-100, 0-100-0?

No it's not street legal anywhere. All the original press releases stated that it wouldn't be homologated for road use.

I read the Bugatti has a governor limiting its top speed to 256MPH. Anyone know if this is true?

I believe it is, as they were afraid the tires would explode at higher speeds. Go figure.

the limiter is set to 253 mph according to the press info. Bugatti also claim it could go 257 mph; and for each mph above 250, they need something in the nature of 8 hp.

The FXX is not road legal; and i'm sure its not electronically limited in top speed; but rather, RPM/Gear limited; as most tracks top out near 180mph-200mph in the long straights. It would suprise me to find it isn't geared much more closely then an Enzo... think of MC12 FIA GT trap speeds, and add a tad to that; being it has no air restrictors on it :) (based on some Monzda footage, the FXX brakes at least as good as teh MC12 FIA GT car :)

in the uk, the laws are lacking in this area,, you could simply SVA test it (single vehical approval) and drive it on the roads no problem!
thats why the uk has massive kitcar followers,, as its so easy

What about the rest of europe? Can the FXX be legal in the rest of Europe, like France, Monaco, Spain, ect.?

FXX is illegal everywhere, all you can do with your fxx is to get it onto the race track
ferrari itself says it's gonna stay as only a track car

it's really hard to believe bugatti in this area; it is said that every veyron is be suited to owners own needs, that's why they have from about 900 to 1300 bhp

Who knows what the top speed is? Who cares what the top speed is?
All we know is that it's ####### fast.... And by the way, it is definately NOT STREET LEGAL.
Unless you have dealer plates and live in Florida....

I imagine the FXX rides too low to even pass SVA in the UK.

Also the rules are different for recognised car manufacturers (like Ferrari) than they are for KitCar makers.

In my country, you could drive it, max you'd e get is a citation for a loud exhaust, then again if you can afford the price w/ tax included, you wouldnt be a man to be stopped by a few citations.... but ud have to raise the suspension to max height if you wanna make it to anywhere in one piece...

355 and 360 Challenges can be seen seen on the road during the summer.

i think the car itself acts as its own governor because as the car reaches and exceeds 250, the aerodynamics are flawed and the wind created above the engine compartment cause too much turbulance on the car and eventually hurt its ability to achieve the top speed. at least thats what i read, and having seen 2 in person and talking to the sales reps, that seems to be very true.

    good call.
    it has brakelights

    That's not a governor, that's a limit :D

I'm sure you'd be able to drive the FXX in the UAE. I read in a magazine that people drove their Porsche GT3 RSRs (not RS) around there, so I'm fairly positive the FXX falls into this category.

Anything thats fast is allowed in the UAE doesn't matter what it is. Also you might have a shot if you live in Ohio I know skylines and all other foreign imports get away due to the fact they have no emissions. I highly doubt a cop in nowheresville is going to look up a car on the us dot approved list let alone know how to access the list in the first place.
