    Dear Tifosi,
This is my first post, as I never really had anything to add to this thread. However, recently I just wanted to get some insight about current FXX values, and its investment potential and place among Ferrari's. We all know that there are 29 FXX and they sold for $1.8 million US, but I have heard rumors in my circles that some have started to change hands at 3.5-4.2Million. There is also one currently on Ebay. This prompts me to ask what you guys as members have heard, seen, etc...I know Ferrari is quite keen to keep speculators out of the question.
In a recent debate about cars, the FXX came up one our what would be the ultimate Ferrari supercar investment garage limited to 3 cars. And, the cars had to be from the 60's on up. Cars that had a reasonable chance to appreciate more quickly than a 250 California Spyder or a Testa Rossa for example. If you had to buy now to never sell later (because who sells their Ferrari's), but have purchased the right car at the right price, what would you buy? I came up with the 250GTO, Ferrari F50GT1, and quite possible the FXX. The debate ofcourse, centered around the Maserati Mc12 and now the MC12 Corse (and no they are not the same car, I know) but technically sister cars to put it nicely. A. What would be the better investment, the rarity of a car or the Marque, since racing has nothing to do with the last two picks, or the Manufacturer of the car.

And just for fun. Would you add anything to the automotive investment valuation of
1: Technological superiority at time of manufacture
    2: Racing Pedigree/double use

I don't think any have changed hands, as the FXX progam is still ongoing. Also, there are 30 FXXs now...

The FXX is hot now because its fast and exclusive . In 5 years , it will be just a fast ferrari track car with very very high running costs.

Who will want one over a 333 SP ? or over an F1 ?

On the other hand , they all belong to very wealthy clients , so why would they sell them ? 1.8m$ is pocket change for most of them.

    I know id rather buy a 333 SP for 800k$ and a SWB for a 1M$ . Best of both world .

Sorry to say but 250 GT SWBs (Berlinetta Scaglietti) for US$ 1 M don't exist anymore. They are MUCH higher priced. Think US$ 1.8 M and up. And the 250 GT SWB SEFAC hot rods (61 comp cars, 20 built) are US$ 3.3 M and up.

You are probably correct about the FXX value in 5 years. I find it hard to believe that any of the original FXX owners would sell their car without Ferrari's permission. That would be immediate exile from Ferrari heaven. Certainly there was a clause in the purchase contract about a time limit and that Ferrari would buy the car back. The FXX is a test program, so any ads you may see for an FXX for sale is likely a false advertisement intended to get you in the door.

For me the ultimate Ferrari collection limited to 3 cars would be a 250 GTO, a pontoon Testa Rossa, and the P5 show car.

I knew i should have bought that SWB for 900k$ last year for sale @classicdriver.com :D

Much better ROI than the dow !

Marcel, what is your opinion on those crazy prices ? Do you think they are likely to remain that high becaus the cars are being bought by collectors ? Or is this 1989/1990 all over again ?

Back in 1989 it was the speculators. Now it's much more the collectors. GOOD cars with perfect provenance, super rare cars with very small quantities built, matching numbers, no stories cars, will remain on their level or rather go north. I am not talking about mundane Daytonas, of course, where about 1'300 units have been built. I am talking about TDFs and SWBs, Cal Spiders, 250 TRs, 250 GTOs, 275 GTB/Cs, Comp Daytonas (genuine ones, please) etc.

This dealer has been the subject of a few negative threads on FChat. I would suggest that the odds are 99% that this car does not exist.

Like I said before, it would be Ferrari client suicide to sell an FXX without Ferrari's permission. and I really doubt they want that car in anyone else's hands except their few trusted long time clients.

There s also the fact that quantities produced by Ferrari putt the prices to the top, i mean, 31 Fxx produced, sells on internet of Fxx was
pure gamble. this period is completly different from the Ninety, what it worth
notecing it s the quantities for US, they increase considerably since last 10 years.

In reference to the ebay FXX: In evo issue # 91 on page 117 there is a sidebar about this car, and I quote -- "When I (author) mention it to an insider, he's quick to say that whoever has bought the auctioned FXX will have no involvement in the Client Test Driver programme, nor be invited to the international FXX driving events or receive technical support from the factory."

So as far as an investment, I'm in agreement with the people who say that it will be just another very expensive racecar to maintain in five years, and, from the sound of it, would be hard to get support for spare parts, etc., from the factory because of how it was acquired. But really, why would you buy an FXX secondhand as an investment and sacrifice the ultimate dream of being part of the development of the next great Ferrari supercar?

here's a question.. It states that it's "from the estate of".. Did this gentleman pass away or go bust?
The reason I ask is if Ferrari excommunicate owners for selling on an FXX (and to all intents abandon the car) wouldn't you have thought that in this case they would vet the new owner and enrole him into the FXX programme?... It's not the cars or the new owners fault that the car came onto the Market after all, surely they (Ferrari SPA) would prefer to keep the car 'in the fold' so to speak!

Benny was a well loved enthusiast that has 'passed on" in the NYC area.....

One would assume "all rights and privledges" would go with this sale of the car, but read the Fine Print Notes, as you are correct Fxxs were not sold (originally ) to 'just anybody".....

They needed $1.2M cash, was one requirement....
