Gotta love it when 3M $ cars have great photo's in their ads.

For the same price (actually, for about half the price), Zonda R all the way...

I'm not sure hey. The XX cars and Zonda R, seem like awesome fun to me...but in the end you're driving around in a glorified track day. Not knocking the cars. Absolutely awesome. But there's no ''real racing'' going on.

If I had 3m to spend in the first instance I'd spend it on a 458 GT2 and race it in the 24h series and International GT open. With the remaining cash I'd buy a V10 F1 car and spend the other weekends doing bossgp.

But that's me. There are plenty of guys around that are happier driving around in their XX's with much less danger of contact.

I think the real difference lies in you want to race, or do you just want to go really, really fast.

That is so wrong ... FXX was built to hammer it on the track and this one has never seen a track nor has it been driven. Some people just don't get it ...

I hope the new owner will use it the way it should be used.

What a waste. I really don't see the point in having a track specific car and then parking it for years.

Agreed. Instead of spending huge amounts just to get a XX or Zonda R, get yourselves into GT racing. I believe (I don't have laptimes in my head) GT3 cars are only slightly slower than the XX's, and I believe the GT2 cars are faster on many circuits. 458 GT2 will probably run a healthy bit faster than a 599XX or FXX if you remove the restrictors and remove the BOP measures.

BOSS GP shut down many years ago, didn't it?

    :)

Yes I believe the GT2's are running faster than the XX cars. The 458 GT2 is around €350K if I'm not mistaken. Count on a healthy budget as well to run it properly though (although compared the XX series it won't make much difference I suppose!).

BOSSGP still exists. Growing stronger every year it seems. Someone bought the HRT F1 left overs and used them last year, although I'm unsure at how many races. It was EuroBoss that folded many years ago.

Ah, that explains it! I mixed BOSSGP with EuroBoss...

GT2's are 2x price to run per km compared to the GT3. And I believe the price for a 458 GT2 is €450k now? The XX's are pretty horrible though. When some guys brought a few 599XX's to a circuit in Sweden for a weekend, the bill for the running costs exceeded €30k per car.

The 458 GT2 probably doesn't have the sense of occasion that he XX cars might have with their screaming engines. But as an occansional track toy I would rather have a GT2 and not have to pay all the extra for the fuss surrounding the XX Clienti. A GT2 probably isn't "that bad" to run in terms of costs if you just use it at trackdays, if you train a few mechanics at your dealer to run the car in and set it up it should go pretty smoothly.

If it was just for track days I'd go for the XX cars any time. But for the same money I'd simply just race in the 458 GT2. I'm sure that over the season you'll end up spending close to the 30K/weekend figure though.
