June 5, approx. 50 Ferrari's on show at Landsdowne park in Ottawa. Apparently the Italian Ambassador will host a dinner for the drivers after at his estate. Sounds like fun!
I was there last year, it was great. Should be better this year, they are expecting 125 F-Cars. They will be setting up a race track at Lansdowne Park and grandstands for spectators. Check out the website www.ottawaferrariparade.com. If the weather is nice, they expect a major turnout for this event, they have major sponsors, they are selling corporate packages, concession stands, memorabilia, etc. etc.
hmmm.... that site hasn't been updated in a while... and although it says you can purchace tickets through ticketmaster, there is nothing on the ticketmaster web site. And - the Landsdown Park web site has a women's soccer tournament scheduled for that weekend. so what gives? Roy
I found out about the festival in the City section of the paper. Will try the Italian festival folks to see if I can get details.
the track runabout is on the 5th, the invitation only luncheon is the 4th. tickets for a look is $7.00 each. track participants MUST be FCA members. not sure how everyone will feel when the organizers pull away with a couple hundred grand for showing off your cars. thanks? blatant and shameless plug follows: I'm the editor publisher of the Corso Italia News here in Ottawa. The Ferrari 2003 event was held right here just up the street. The event organizer's started flinging caca when they saw the extreme numbers attracted to the 2003 Italian Week celebration. I think it might have something to do with money.;-) Everyone involved appeared to take a back seat until the lawyers read over the fine print. This year's "winning" event organizer, Marc Carroll Dupuis (a market man for VIA Rail here in Ottawa) decided to take it away from Corso Italia, away from the local people who it was designed to serve in bringing pride to all things Italian. So when everyone lined up behind him, based solely on the strength of the 2003 event, it makes me wonder.... If you want to keep abreast of the happenings, both political and enthusiast points of view we have a page on our site devoted to all things as it regards the event at www.corsoitalia.net/ferrari
