They are selling new on e-bay for $250. Problem is they leak! I bought a set and can not get them from leaking at the rear clamp.

Actually they are $389.00 new on ebay not $250.00. There is nothing wrong with them and I didn't have a problem with them leaking.
I don't know why someone thinks I am a fishy seller as I am just another Ferrari guy trying to sell a part. Check my feedback, as I have well over

There are two sellers offering pipes. One was about $390 and the other was about $250.

Do they blow clean according to California smog test standards, and who makes them?

I doubt it! I bought a set and they are on my car. Took a bit of work to get them to fit without leaking at the rear clamp. They are straight through. Mine look exactly the same and were sold as test pipes. It looks more like ceramic insulation. I don't think there is any catalytic material in them! Illinois does not require emmissions testing now on '94 and older, so I have not had to test them.

Well in that case I would rather stick with a set of Hyperflows. They have been dyno and smog test proven.

Test pipes are not catalytic convertors & aren't advertised as such... so no, they won't pass a CA smog check!

California law is not kind to aftermarket exhausts of any kind. Gotta have a CARB sticker in plain view. I had way too many friends (commodity cars) with proper convertors & mufflers, but they got failed because the system wasn't CARB approved / no CARB sticker visible. They "somehow" got a smog cert, only to get busted by law enforcement for tampering with the exhaust system.

Cali is a joke, and that is why my cars aren't registered there!

I don't claim to be an expert, but here is what I've experienced (outside the Ferrari realm):

What is legal & what you can get away with are two different things. You'll prob be fine with Hyperflow cats. BUT, the letter of the law says...

"A legal aftermarket catalyst is one that is listed in an ARB approved manufacturers catalogue for the year, make, model, and engine size of vehicle on which it is being installed. Manufacturers of aftermarket catalytic converters must obtain an Executive Order for their products from the Air Resources Board in order to be listed in an approved catalogue."

    http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm

Are Hyperflows on that "list"? I don't know... I'm yet to find the list.

Chances are good that you won't be hassled with a Ferrari. These laws are used to harrass ricers. But if you're caught speeding, and they feel like adding to the list of offenses, they can always cite you for such equipment.

Got em. :) They are going to a good home.

But I still am looking at my bad OEM cats that I have here and I still have a few ideas on how to hollow them out and put in a stainless steel internal pipe so you have hollowed out cats that have a tube in them so you still look stock.

Now to find time to install these and my used OEM Spider single can muffler. Maybe this fall yet or maybe in spring.

Uuuuuuuh ...................... they are being advertised as cats. Didn't you look at the link that Rich posted? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-348-89-95-SPIDER-BERLINETT-CAT-CONVERTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQihZ016QQitemZ260171532205QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

It doesn't matter anyway, because after having a look at the link I wouldn't buy them.

Although I have not taken mine off yet I see it seems to be a compression type connection. Maybe if you take the tubes and have the ends expanded just a little bit they would stop leaking. If you have a muffler place do it make sure they do it a very little at a time. Best is to take along a dial calipers and measure repeatedly. Maybe measure the old converters to see what they are and try to make the new pipes the same diameter.

    Rodney,

I think the ends need to be bumped out slightly to fit. The very end cannot be bumped to much or it will not fit in the muffler. I will take the pipes off this winter and take them to a muffler shop and see if the can do it. They other wise fot fine.
