This is my same post in the general Ferrari discussion, I'm not sure if it's lame to post it again here but I figure some of the Lambo guys might like the post:

Okay, so I have both cars (just got the G, F1 vs. E-gear) and wanted to write a brief review of my opinions of the differences between the two. First off, I love any cool car, I've been a life long Ferrari fan and only a recent convert to Lambo. Frankly, if Hyundai put out a ridiculously wicked car, I'd be interested. I say that just to point out I don't have blind loyalty to any brand. And yes, I'm painfully aware that a better comparison is between the 430 and the G, but since I don't have 430, I'm not qualified to give an intelligent write up on that car. I just want everyone that says brand "X" is way better no matter what than brand "Y", well...good for that marketing dept. and their brainwashing division.

Let's just start like this for those of you that hate long posts: the Lambo is better. Fine, it's way more money and newer, it should be better. it costs about 1.5X what the Ferrari costs, is it 1.5X better? I guess if feel that's about right there, not too far off. Although I suspect that the Lambo will not hold it's value anywhere near as well as the Ferrari. Whatever, that's not why I bought it, but it still sucks to lose money.

    Quick review by major category:

Speed: No contest here, Lambo. it's got 130 more horse, and is only slightly heavier.

Handling: not been on the track yet, but the Lambo feels WAY tighter and more planted (4wd). The Ferrari might be more nimble, but overall...Lambo.

Practicality: Ferrari. the trunk is way bigger and there is space behind the seats. the trunk on the Lambo sucks and there is zero space behind the seats. the convertible tops are roughly equal. lambo top is slightly faster, but whatever. The HVAC in the Lambo (audi) is a billion times better than the Ferrari. **the front end lift system in the Lambo is really great** the Ferrari doesn't have this feature but in fairness it's higher off of the ground so doesn't really need it, is this better? Hmmm

Radio: they both suck. Lambo system is stolen from the Audi parts bin so it's better or worse...I guess depending if you've ever had an Audi.

Key: Lambo...by a little. the lambo key is basically the same as a jetta....lame. the Ferrari key is no big deal either (the 430 key is awesome), and it wrks worse than the key for my girlfriends camry.

Exhaust note: Lambo...but not by a lot. This is a good one, both are great (I have a tubi on my Ferrari). but the Lambo under 3500 RPM is whisper quiet and over 3500 RPM is a total savage. So for people that live in the city like me, it's great not have to ALWAYS be "that" guy. the Tubi is always loud and always sounds cool but it's really great not having to always be loud. the pitch and timber of the note is personal preference, I say the Lambo is a little cooler, but it's really subjective. the best comparison is the Lambo is more like a trumpet with lower note and the Ferrari is more like a screechy sax.

Transmission: Ferrari. the lambo is harsher and doesn't feel as thought through. the Ferrari is also faster to up and downshift. The Ferrari also has less clutch slip, which presumably means a longer clutch life for the Ferrari.

Overall build quality: I'm going with Audi, er..I mean Lambo. Feels like an Audi A8. that's fine with me, the A8 is a nice car. my Ferrari is fine, but nothing crazy.

    Brakes: too early to tell.

And that's all I have for now, if I think of stuff I forgot I'll add it.

nice writeup. thanks for that. i'm surprised that the older generation F1 system from the 360 is better than the '06 egear, but seems consistent. i've had mine for a couple months now and i have to say that i am not that impressed.

Noel, did you look at the F430 before purchasing the G? If so, what were the deciding factors?

of course, i'm really surprised that no-one asked that already.

first and foremost, the price. the 430 costs ~300k and the lambo is about 60k less. it wasn't so much the money as i felt that the 430 was not the huge change that spending 150k above the value of my 360 would justify. the 430 is better than the 360 but not wildly, and the body style isn't radically different than the 360. I felt that the G was newer, less of them would be produced (a lot less), and it was just different (just for the sake of change).

I also looked at the Murci roadster and the CGT. while great cars they are not good for as often as would like to drive them. simply just not as practical.

Frankly I'm super surprised that more 360 owners aren't all over the G, for all of the same reasons.

I also have both a 360 spider and G spyder.....I've always loved Ferrari too and had many but this was my first Lambo. I can say the brakes are absolutely amazing in the Lambo...no comparison. My 360 has straight pipes, Gruppe M, and a capristo stage 3 so it's F1 loud all the time, which I love but some passengers (primarily my girlfriend) are not so inclined to like it that loud always. Learning from this I put an exhaust switch in the Lambo that I can turn on and off to make it straight pipe or quiet for pending date conditions. What a great idea so get one!!! The sound is deeper in the G than the 360 but more F1 for sure in the Ferrari. Both great. I've had both cars on the track already and they are both fun. The awd is really something to get used to. Feels like the car is swimming but in reality it's just gripping like a mofo in the turns. Definitely different feel than the Ferrari. I'm just not used to it yet. Power band is greater in the Lambo for sure but feels less like a track car than the Ferrari to me. The brakes on the Lambo are amazing. Just monsters. Ferrari's not even close, except if you have the ceramics of course. Again, it's new. I have slicks for the Ferrari so not a fair comparison yet. Wow factor definitely goes to the Lambo. Stoplight test is a solid winner. The car has more creature comforts and of course the Audi influence is actually nice in certain areas. I also didn't feel the 430 was worth the extra money so opted for the G spyder. I don't think you could go wrong with either car but I'm happy with the Lambo and the people I've met so far with Lambo. My girlfriend says she'd take the Lambo over the Ferrari any day.....I guess that's really all that matters huh?......

I sold my 360 Spider and am going over to the factory to collect my G Spyder in 11 days time
Its 1,400 miles back to London, so I will probably have one of the higher millage cars after 2 days

I fully support you're plan. I hope to one day do just that. (although i live in Canada so driving it all the way back isn't possible, but i hope to one day pick up a new lambo from sant'agata.

Enjoy the car as I'm sure you will!

I like reading really objective (even if personal) reviews. Always enlightening.
    Thanks.
