I was all set to trade my Ferrari 360 for a 2006 Gallardo -- then I test drove the Gallardo. It was a 2006 with the manual 6-speed transmission. The pedal box is very small, which is fine, but that means when my left leg isn't shifting, it's resting on the false pedal to the left of the clutch -- and this puts my leg in an awkward position. I can't extend my left leg very far at all. I tried playing with various seat positions, but I still found this was very annoying. Now, I have had major surgery on my left knee and so my leg is probably more sensitive than most people's in terms of the angle it's kept. In my 2005 Corvette convertible, I can extend my left leg all the way if I want to while I'm tooling down the freeway. With the Gallardo, my knee is at an uncomfortable angle and I can't vary it except when using the clutch. Has anyone else experienced this? This is very disappointing because it's probably a deal-breaker for me. The only other option would be e-gear...but I'm a traditionalist and would probably opt to keep my Ferrari instead of going that route.

yeah, this is a common thing. unfortunately, there is not a lot of room down there in the footwell, and the dead pedal is almost dead center. not sure if this is just the wheel well that creeps in to that space or if it is part of the 4wd transmission that is intruding, but it's more severe than most cars, and certainly most ferraris. the Murci is known for an awkward seating position where everything, pedals, wheel, etc. are actually angled toward the center of the car rather than just straight.

i think the '06 (or maybe it's the egear) is even worse than my old '04 manual was as far as the dead pedal. i occasionally will put my foot behind the clutch when its really worn out (in my '04), but that isn't a particularly smart thing to do.

don't know if anyone else has other ideas.

I noticed that too in my '06 Gallardo. I just got used to it, and I don't think about it anymore.

I never really noticed in mine. Maybe try some more seat time, see if you get used to it.

    Lee, how tall are you?

If <6'1", give it another shot. I do think you can find the perfect position. I'm a hair under 6' and quickly adapted to the pedal positions.

It's worth a shot. The G is a phenomenal car, and moons better than a 360 IMHO.
