I have a 2004 Gallardo E-Gear. I purchased the car several months ago, but due to the weather it hasn't been driven much. I have noticed down shifting when coming to a stop that the computer will rev the engine and surge the car forward. In my 360 F1 the computer will rev the engine but not surge the car forward. Is this normal for the E-Gear?

    That is not normal.

There were a number of upgrades to the e-gear software, especially for the '04s - I would check with your dealer that you have the latest version.

Completely normal. Caught me by surprise the first few times, the egear system blips the throttle to match engine revs to road speed. Sometimes when coming to a stop it will also disengage releasing the restraint of the engine, making the car lurch forward. Try it in sports mode - it's brilliant, really blips the throttle on down changes. You can have the clutch speed changed at the dealer. By default the system is set to a value of 5.75 (i think). i had mine dropped down to 4.75 - which i prefer. However, give it some time, you soon learn the car, and it becomes second nature. Enjoy

my '06 does the same thing. i just now put the car into neutral every time i start slowing down to a stop to avoid all the lolling around. when stopped, i then put it into 1st again. i assume this is better for the car but someone may know better.

My SE does the same thing. You get used to it although you can improve it by careful use of the throttle.
