The car in the dupont registry link above is my old Gallardo Coupe. I sold it a few years ago with about 5K miles to get the spyder. The color is not for everyone - but the interior is actually gorgeous in person. In real life it is black with tan (like the porsche tan color). I bought the car from the NAIA (lambo ohio) at the 2004 show when they first revealed the Gallardo to North America. This is an early car vin 396...

Don't know much about the car condition today - however the owner is an enthusiast that lives in Denver and owns a cool bar downtown Denver.

333 for sale on Dupont Registry??? Holy crap - if that isn't an indicator of the economy today; nothing is....
    Buyers market...

premier; good point. But 333 is 5% of the total amount produced so far. That's slot of cars!

7,500 Gallardos produced as of Geneva. 4% of them being on the market at any given time is FAR from being "a lot of cars".

Most of the 04 G-cars sold with stickers in the $170-$190k range depending upon options at that time. To be here five years later now and still have the no-story cars above $120k represents fantastic value retention compared to all of their natural competitors (Porsche, Aston, BMW, Mercedes). Ferrari isn't on that list, their brand strength is an anomoly and can't be compared to any other marque.

The Gallardo retains its value better than the majority of the segment by a wide margin. Thumbs up!

I agree they have held their valyes pretty good, my comment was more in regards to our economy in the us. The 7,100 cars is a worldwide number; how many were sold to the states? If it was 50%; that's 3500-3600 cars. So 333 for sale in the states - in my opinion - is a lot of cars available. Not looking to argue, or hijack the thread, just making an observation.

There is somewhere around 2400 (est.around 700 cars per year) Gallardos in the US, so common since tells us that there is no way that 10% of the total production is on the market in the US...Dealers leave there ads up to get leads...simpley pick up the phone and see how many cars are truly there...You will soon find out that there is not 333 cars for sale...Last month in the 360 section we had this same talk...Dupont had some 275 360 spiders listed....after we sent them our updated database, and there reps at the dupont confirmed sold cars the list went down to 108 cars with 16 listed more then once...we did the same on ebay taking the 360 list from over 150 cars down to 87 cars...

So I guess we will do the samething with gallardo's I bet you will see the list go from 333 down to 80 cars...

I think the chap that is tossing around the idea that 10k miles is high miles must be smoking something.. and that calling a 30k mile lambo a "beater"...

i really dont think people like that enjoy the cars or the concept of the cars.. I think it can only be said that it is used for curb appeal.. 3k miles a year? my god that is low.. spend all that money and not driving the car is an absolute sin..

the 200k pricetag on the gallardo is wasted the moment you buy the car.. if you have to worry about value retention then perhaps you shouldn't buy them? they are meant to be driven.

perhaps the happiest owners are the ones that pay 110k for a 30k mile gallardo because they will likely drive the car another 60k miles without worry and or care about value retention..

Just be careful with what you read. There was a Diablo up for sale that was advertized as perfect, mint condition.

It was actually perfect if one was blind. Painted parts where the color didn't match and the leather interior had serious issues.

Wait about 10 years or so and Iam almost certain they will probably retail for that much. Kind of like the 355's of today.:)

    Will do!

Might not even be that long! The way Audi... I mean Lambo's producing them at "a dime a dozen" pace, I wouldn't be suprised to see the early ones depreciate faster than the 355's did. If the price dips down to the low $60's, Ill start looking! :D

I remember flipping a white/red '87 countach years back. I got it (in Idaho) for $55G's and sold it (a day and a half later) to a Japanese guy for nearly double my cost! With the recession looming (still), I wouldn't be suprised if early G owners starts selling below market soon!

    What?!

That's bizarre. Do you drive around in a Smart all day long and just go home to look at your Gallardo?!

I don't get that behavior at all. Drive the car!

No. Unlike yourself, I have a life that includes things besides driving around in a 14 year old car, and aimlessly racking up miles.

Perhaps, but it just sounds as though you are limited by your insurance company to less than 3,000 miles per year...or that you have to pay a mileage charge on your lease...or that you don't know how to drive your car...instead of that you own a car that you can afford to push to its limits at will.

There's many a kid who has overreached on a car purchase, only to be unable to drive it because she can't afford the maintenance, too.

Less than 3,000 miles on a car that is too common to ever be placed into a museum of any note makes the average reader question just what sort of reasoning is driving (pun intended) your actions.
