"Obvious lengthy name jokes aside, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is one heck of a performance machine. It's all about saving weight when it comes to this car ("Superleggera," after all, means "super light"), so it strikes us as something of a surprise to see this prototype of a Spyder version out testing on the Nürburgring.

Most noticeably, the hardtop Superleggera's rear wing is gone, but the large front spoiler and rear diffuser make it clear that this Gallardo means business. Besides, Lamborghini has been known to keep weight under control with its Erector Set roof assemblies, so we'd expect the Superleggera Spyder to generate the same sort of super lightweight thrills with a whole lot more wind in your hair.

Expect to see the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Spyder (now that's a mouthful) at the Paris Motor Show later this year"

This is getting to be a bit much. Within the last few weeks: Ferrari announced that they will introduce 'one new model' each year, and Bentley just stated (this week) they would introduce an updated or special edition car every 18 months.
Do these guys read the economic sections of the newspapers? ;)

these new models are often little tweaks that cost nothing...combined with a slightly differing branding job....and then they tack on $20k or more...thus, a marketing job vs. something that costs real money.

As far as the SL Spyder...Ferrari made the 430 Scuderia Spider...so, why not!?

That's true. I've always liked the sleek look of the G Spyder's.

I think they should keep the SL wing on it though.

we have a G Spyder...and one of the primary reasons for buying it was top down motoring...listening to the motor and exhaust.

Looking forward to installing a new exhaust (deciding now) to enhance that experience.

All obvious bias aside, the Gallardo Spyder is one of the most beautiful and brutish cars ever made. I can't imagine a day when seeing one wont be a treat.

    Bring on the SL version...!

And I though the whole philosophy about the Superleggera models was to save weight?

If they did that, no doubt it would raise the price even higher. Not in this economy !

    why not?

Ferrari is coming out with a new car ever year for like, the next five years.

And, Bentley had the Supersports GT and SS GTC come out extremely close and, people are just going out and buying both.

We will see how smart 'that' idea turns out to be. Ferrari's aren't exactly flying off the shelves these days; sales are down. Almost every company is cutting back.

    that's true.

I don't know of anyone going out and buying a "new" Ferrari. Or really any new car for that matter.
