    I've just started thinking about getting a Gallardo and look to you, current owners, for advice to ensure my wise selection and purchase. I've done a fair amount of on-line and print research and it seems the Gallardo is a fairly reliable, serviceable and robust car. And that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm coming from a Ferrari 328 that has been absolutely dead-nuts reliable and I'd like that trend to continue with the Gallardo as well. So, before I start looking at cars, would it be possible to provide me with your ownership experience in terms of reliability and longevity and what I should look for in terms of changes made to the car during its life life-span. Are there well-known problem areas to watch for when vetting cars and to which I can direct my mechanic during a PPI? What are service costs and what are the service intervals? I know several changes (increased hp, steering and gear ratio changes) were made in MY 2006 -- are these changes worth having assuming a 2006 or later car would cost more that an earlier car. Also, though I'm open to either transmission, I would prefer the e-gear. Your thoughts on that? I would also prefer the CCM brakes. It seems they first appeared as an option in 2007, correct? Are they worth having if I don't intend on tracking the car?

    Go with a 2006 or greater - the updates, enhancements are worth it.

    I owned both an 2004 and now a 2007 spyder - both have had no issues at all in over 4 year of total ownership.

    CCB's are not worth it in my opinion if you are not tracking - for the price you will pay. Later 2007 option and will add a premium. But if the price was right - they are great breaks! and no dust!

    If you are going egear - go 2006 - 2008. Much more smooth than the 04 or 05. Not to mention the updated clutch in the 06+ is much better than 04 - 05.

    Go 6speed - much more involved (that is my personal opinion) also potentially less issues. However both egear and 6 speed are both rock solid.

    Best exotic I have ever owned, every time I think about getting something different than my spyder - there is nothing I can think of getting that I like better and is a reliable in the exotic market.
