The problem with Internet millionaires is that they dont need just luck....you have to be at the top of your game. Internet trends rise and fall far to quickly.

    AOL

    Myspace

    ZYNGA

    Netscape

    The list goes on.

In the end I tend to view internet companies as soft assets unless you are Google or Microsoft.

The thread has turned far from what it is about, I would rather hear thoughts on the Gallardo replacement than various opinions on millionaires etc

I like what I see so far but it reminds me once again that Lamborghini (and Porsche 911s) hesitate to break new ground with their designs. They evolve but are always variations on the same theme. It seems to me that Ferrari takes more risks in their designs, and they are sometimes successful, sometimes not. What is amazing is how despite major changes in styling (consider the lineage from the 308 to the 458), the older ones still attract their admirers and loving owners; no older design is ever really out of date.

I think the jump from M to A was pretty big. The difference was that they made all these concepts and limited cars that emphasized the direction of the new cars before they arrived. Cars like the Reventon and Sesto Elemento provided a lot of hints as to where the cars were going, and when they finally went there it was old news.

    well written!

The "Cabrera" is a nice car, there's no question about. But the "wow-effect" is missing!
The car looks too much like the Gallardo, therefore I don't see the need for a new name (the Porsche 911 has at least the same name for decades). A new name awakens in me the expectation for a brand new car!

btw: the Porsche 911 owes "its success" to the new Porsche models Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera. Without these successful models the 911 would be already dead. The 911 considered in isolation: for too long always the same concept and design.

I really appreciate the courage of Ferrari with their design philosophy, across all product lines. The successor products are setting permanently new design milestones (and always generate new covetousness) and the predecessor models remain unique (which promotes the conservation of value).

The 12c destroyed the new turbo, check out the video with Chris Harris.

I'll try to post it when I find it.

Oh I would believe that, the 12c has more horsepower and is read wheel drive so it should have more at the wheels, and it weighs less. Did you see the world's drag race. I forget the exact name. Its on youtube. The 12c came in second to the aventador but the aventador barely beat it.

Please read about survivalship bias. There are tens of millions of startups that go nowhere. You are cherry picking winners. Majority and I mean 99.99% of internet business's are junk(includes twitter, linkedn), and these guys all have paper wealth that vanishes faster then it arrived. Add the cheap credit being flooded into the system by the US government via the fed and you have ridiculous valuations being tossed out. TheMayor is right, its harder then ever to run a profitable business. Government has become more efficient at tax collection then ever before thanks to technology so mom/pop shops are squeezed to the bone. High regulations, screwed up capital markets etc..

Government education is turning out 25 year olds who can barely tie their own shoes and have massive entitlement mentality from 20years+ of socialism in school. So yea it isn't 19 year olds becoming ballers from their basements. 99.999% are producing "internet" software of no real value.

The 12C had a head start in the drag race if you pay attention.

There has never been this much opportunity in the history of mankind.

The people of the world have never had a higher standard of living, never lived as long, or been as healthy, or worked less than the present.

The naysayers are jaded. They sound like my elders when I was growing up. Complaining about the price of a loaf of bread. Yada, yada, yada. They are looking at the world through a narrow perspective and not viewing the present through the vast expanse of history.

There has never been more people that can afford these cars then now. There has never been such a large number of these cars produced. And they have never performed better or been more reliable. If the worlds economy was so bad this would not be occurring.

Regarding the middle class... By definition they're squeezed. When they're no longer squeezed they're no longer in the middle class!

That's not the point. The point it's that the requirements for success are more within reach. The failure rate is no different today than it was before. The difference is that now you don't need huge capital to create a successful venture.

How did you sell your product 20 years ago? How did you get it into customer's hands? Did you need to open your own stores? Did you need to figure out how to get your product in major retail outfits?

Now you can just sell stuff to a billion people on a $100 website with PayPal. Or sell on amazon or eBay.

How did you find a factory to manufacture stuff? How did you source raw material? Now you can find everything from your bedroom and communicate with people around the world easily, efficiently, and cheaply.

Success still requires hard work, a good idea, and luck, but now you don't need huge amounts of money to do so and nearly as much time. The risks aren't nearly as great. Of course, technology has changed and you can't expect to find success the same way you did in 1980, but there are just as many new opportunities as there are those that have disappeared.

To say it's harder to run a successful business today is to say technology has made life harder. That's completely the opposite. Technology has put success within reach of more people than ever.

I love how the thread has turned into talking about millionaires and people who can afford these cars, not! Seriously why argue about that on a thread about the Lamborghini replacement. Id rather read about what people think etc. Isn't it the point of the thread. Who cares who can afford the cars and why, I can afford them and a lot of people on the forum can and we all have made our money in different ways.

Do you know anything about the car which has been confirmed? You have made several posts already with negative remarks towards a car which no one outside of Lamborghini knows anything about..

FWIW, the GTR "only" has 475-575hp and it's doing pretty well performance wise.. It's not all in the numbers you know.

I wouldn't say it destroyed the Turbo S since the Porsche was ahead up until about 120mph, + it has done a better time around the Ring (which can be debated for decades), but it proves that it can hang with the MP4 in the twisties. And, according to Harris, the Turbo was also the better car.

    Really? Define ugly.

This is certainly not boring nor ugly. But it shouts "Lamborghini" unlike that chubby dull looking thing going around the track.

True. But most would agree that eating plain wheat porridge for breakfast is boring. Most would add some milk, maybe some butter or sugar or honey to give it some taste.

There are somethings we can all agree upon: blah.
