Does anyone have any information or opinion on this vehicle?: http://www.bentleylongisland.com/inventory/printDetails.cfm?printdetails=5558055
41k miles in 2 years.....thats called driving your exotic!!! I assume those will mostly highway miles...I sure hope those werent track miles!!!!
Thanks for the sole reply. This car must be a cream puff. High miles never scare me as I've had a cars with over 200,000 that seem to just get better with age.
Based on the miles and the location, I am thinking that this was a rental car owned by Gotham Dream Cars.
I thought so to, but was told it was in a private collection of a good customer by salesman.............
I don't know how it works in the US. But here in Toronto Canada we have to declare if a car was used as a rental...by law! There are ways around this from what I understand (Which sucks) Don't know anything about this car but that seems like a deal. Isn't Mr Bill Noon the guy to talk to? He's here on fchat.
And one would think that if anything was going to go wrong prematurely, surely after 41,000 miles on the clock, those events would have already become history. That is a nice looking car (on my iMac screen).
God I am glad I paid 240 for mine... ugghhh.. I was depressing myself cruising ebay yesterday and saw some great color combo's and ~4 - 5K miles (06 and 07 spyders). I saw a few for 139K buy it now. So in reality with a little negotiation you could hook one for 135 - 130K. So for 20K more you would have a 4K or 5k mile car of the same year (which would help resale down the road). Even though miles don't bother me either - I would still pay 20K extra for 38K less miles. Just a thought. I would also be darn sure this wasn't a rental before I would even consider it. If I were going to TT it, I would pick this up in a heart beat.
True and many would prefer the lower mile cars for perhaps $20-30k more. However, assuming this guy paid sticker, the flip side of the argument is that it cost him roughly $140,000 for his ~3 years of ownership, or $3.41/mile... Beats the hell out of getting $130 for your car if you only put 5,000 miles on it (roughly $22/mile!)... Sounds like the guy that drove the 41000 miles has it figured out!
Driving it is the thing to do. For the previous owner that enjoyed 41k miles at a lesser cost per mile. and also for the next owner who will get a heck of a deal. With proper maintenance program, I think G cars can run a trouble free 200k+.
I have seen a few 10-15mil clean g spiders for the asking price of around $130k..With cash in hand, I do believe you can find a clean one for $125k with moderate to low miles....So 109k asking price sounds right for this car....the question is , where is the bottom for the G spider, and is there a bottom?? You would hope a clean , low mileage car in the future wont drop much below $100k, but who knows...either way these are great exotics at a bargin basement price....
My guess (no claim to actual possession of crystal ball) would be 04-05 coupes around $50, 06+ coupes higher $50s, Spyders in the high $60s to $70s... Just a gut feeling. No idea on time, but I think that's were they'll fall to. Based on that, if you're planning on picking up a used car to actually drive, I would lean towards the lower mile cars to be a better option... For the $15-20k premium you might pay over the 41k mile example in this thread, you sure get a lot of driving before you catch up in miles...
No way!! We are in a down market right now and there are many unique factors that are killing the Gallardo market. But, I believe they are bottomed out right now. As the market improves (it will) the prices will go back up. As inflation increases (it will) prices will go back up. As the '06-09 models age, the prices of the '04-05s will come to rest somewhere close to the others. Basically the early model Gallardos are seen as the "older Gallardo". In time that will become less and less of a big deal (i.e. when every year of the Gallardo is considered the "old model". High build numbers and all, as prices for cars increase, there is no way that people will be paying $60k for a Camry and $50k for a Gallardo. Sure, there will be "fire sales" but even those will decrease as the economy comes back. In my opinion, the cheap Gallardos are getting harder to find. For awhile on Ebay and AutoTrader (maybe about 2-3 months ago) you would see a Gallardo in the 70s every week. Now, I haven't see it in awhile. People have backed away from the edge and the fire sales are mostly over. The Spyders will come down in price and will hold value over the Coupe for a bit but, with the passage of time, they probably won't be worth much more, if at all IMO. I have seen it with the Ferraris. The Spyders (for the most part) are not any more expensive than the GTB/GTS (i.e coupes/Targas). Just my opinion though, of course......
Gallardos in the 70s? This is just misinformation man. They never got that low - sure that may have been the starting bid, but of course not the reserve. I followed the lambo market daily through this bust and the cheapest one I saw was $82K - the car needed a lot of work and was high mileage (35,000+). Depending on where you are, add sales tax to that and it's not really that cheap anymore.
