which would you rather own as everyday car for local suburban 5 mile commute to work in all weather and occasional 10/yr track car? i think a few yr old g will be priced less than a new 997tt which makes it tempting. unfortunately tt would have a warantee and buyer beware with lambo i guess. style of g might make it worth risk over tt though

    One question tho

Is Lambo for everyday car possible at all?

    Then...maybe Lambo...dont need GT3 in that case....

The Porsche TT is the hands down choice. Much better reliability, better gas mileage, a lot more service points (ie, dealers), and twice the warranty. The only thing it lacks is exclusivity (esp in come areas of So. Calif. where they're literally everywhere) and cachet. Both cars promise to be depreciation nightmares.

Especially since you want a daily driver, the Porsche would be the logical choice.

fwiw, I wouldn't own either of these cars without a warranty. Porsches have really gone down hill of late. And even Lambo is afraid to stand behind the Gallardo for more than 24 months...

(Actually, I wouldn't own either of these cars because they're AWD but that's another discussion.)

Edit: I just thought of another important factor favoring the TT for daily use -- rearward visibility. The Porsche's is just about perfect for a sports car. The Gallardo's is downright dangerous. Have you ever driven one?

i think if you have to ask the question then you're asking permission to buy the P-car.

i doubt anyone who ever purchased the alternative really thought about the practicality aspects...

im very surprised fchaters would take the practical p over the style of the g. same argument could be made for p over any f also. is this just lambo hating? having said that i still dont know which id take

I faced that decision earlier this year. I had ordered a 996 TT Cab and made the mistake of test driving the Gallardo. I loved it and was very close to dropping the Posche in favor of the Lambo. In the end I chose the Porsche. It is a better DD and is easily modified, (that is important to me), I will add the Lambo next year though.

The way you phrased your question, my answer would have been the same vis a vis Ferrari. The 360's rearward visibility is only a little better than the Gallardo's. But the 360 is even less suitable than the Gallardo as a daily driver for 5 mile commutes. It takes a good 10-20 miles to get to operating temp. Until then, you really can't enjoy the car so what would be the point of commuting 5 miles in it?

As much as I despise garage queens, it really doesn't make much sense to relegate an "exotic" to commuting duty. I'd rather pile up the miles on some beautiful back road drives.

i would use car about 5-7k miles/yr which would include short work commute daily, track use, and weekend/fun driving too. need awd for winter in ny though thats why between tt and g.

my main question is still where g prices will be related to tt in 2 yrs. will used g be same or less than new tt

For that sort of chore the C4S makes the most sense and delivers the most in the three Ps: performance, price and practicality.

I can see that. The TT is a boring car to drive. I can see getting a G to throw around in a year for 105-110K.
