Other than the words "Lamborghini Gallardo", I didn't catch much of that...But they said those words when the camera was looking at the engine, so I guess you're right? :)

I'd take the S8 over the 7 series, it's just so much cooler!

while its great new for the S8, its an utter abomination to the Gallardo!!

my interest in the Gallardo has just TANKED!!! Its one thing to share technology, its an entirely different offence to use the heart and soul of such an amazing exotic!!! BLASTIMY!!!!!

I now have more interest in the Dodge Ram SRT that uses the Viper's engine :(

    this is a shame!!

How could the Gallardo engine being in the S8 possibly make you lose interest in the Gallardo?

...and what the hell is "blastimy"?

I was gonna say that's not exactly a lot of respect right before you edited your message.

Another "brave" move by audi, guess we'll find out what it really means soon looking at G's future prices.

Yeah, Audi has definitely come up over the last few years but, I'd still take a BMW over Audi. However, even though the S8 vs. 7 series is not a fair comparison, I do agree that the S8 would be the way to go. On the other hand, BMW is discontinuing the 760 and coming out with an Alpina 7 series in it's place and I might do that instead....Can you tell I'm a Gemini? :D

Could see this coming. It definitely takes the edge off the Gallardo..."Oh yeah my Audi has the same engine as your Lambo". It'll work the other way around too, and then what are you driving?....Nawww that ain't gonna fly.

Some of you guys are nuts...

The Gallardo probably wouldn't even exist if it didn't have Audi funding behind it. Also, have any of you ever compared the interior of a Gallardo with the interior of an Audi? :)

I dont see why/how this engine shares any more than the F430 does with the QP/maser GT. Its a different size, diff intake; diff power....the block is the same I guess?

That is what I was thinking. The S8 will probably be a $120k+ plus car anyway, the only problem is that its performance is no better than the W12 version of the existing A8. I guess Audi is taking a book out of MB page with the S55, S600 concept (Same HP, different chassis tuning). Frankly I am disappointed that the S8 doesn't have the full 500 hp.

    I'm confused.
    1) Was the Gallardo engine developed using Audi parts by Audi engineers?
    2) or was it developed by Lamborghini engineers using their own parts?
    3) or was it designed by Lamborghini engineers using Audi parts?

I always thought that Audi did most of the work and the Lambo engineers didn't have much to do with the V-10.

Either way, I don't like how Lamborghini's will use more Audi parts in the future. They should have just let Lamborghini engineers do thier own thing on major components of the cars. It seems that Pagani is today what Lamborghini used to be before Audi got involved.

It's actually much closer to $100k.

The W12 comes in at approx. $120k and will remain the flagship for the A8 line.

Coolness. With the V10 in a more mass produced car the development with be much better. I would imagine the parts could end up being cheaper too. The only thing I don't like about the new Audi's is the front grill. Other than that I like them.

If you think it's bad the engine is in the S8, wait until the entire platform is ripped off with the R9 "Le Mans" due to start production next year. It will begin with the RS4 V8, but the V10 will follow. Basically will be a reskinned Gallardo, for 60% of the cost.

Personally, I agree! (And I love the S8 - I think the V10 is going in the S6 also, which will be give the M5 crowd something to think about)
As an Audi fan who is obsessed with Italian cars, the Gallardo is simply the ultimate to me. I am hoping the R9 brings the cost of the used Lambo's down a bit, so I can play too!

i had the A8 when it first came out , sold it for the range SC but i guess i wont be keeping that for long when the S8 comes out .

and i dont think they will put the V10 in the RS6 ( i hope ) the V8 with twins r way better , u know Mpower is NA , AMG is superchrged , and audi is turbocharged its kindda kool .

and man i dont think the R9 will do anything to the lambos price , it would be kool to make the R9 with a V10 turbocharged u know lambo guys have the MURCI and audi guys have the R9 , 2 diff things better marketing i would say.
