Good evening all, I wanted to know if any members on here had/have this. I notice when I eat fatty foods my right side always bubbles/groans? I believe it's the gallbladder. I did want to get into it entirely but if someone can PM me or tell me they had the same experience that would be great.
Yes, it could be the problem. I'm not a surgeon, and so my info may be basic. But the gall bladder stores bile, to be used when you eat fatty foods. If you have gallstones (hence, your gall bladder is cactus), this fatty food will continue thru your digestive tract untreated. Hence the gurgling noise, followed by explosive bowel motion about an hour later. My liver and cancer special explained it to me in this fashion. Your gall bladder is now just like a piece of dead meat in your chest cavity. You may well survive the rest of your life with no complications. It's not dissimilar to having some dirty socks implanted into your chest. You could well survive. But if it becomes infected, and lets say that happens when you're 65 or 75, your body may not cope too well with the surgery, or even maybe an infection. I waited 18 months after diagnosis, and after having another gall stone attack (which I'd imagine is like a mini heart attack in pain ratings), I booked for overnight keyhole surgery. I lost 5kg overnight, and haven't felt better............. All the info says "go get it ripped out"..........
You should see your primary care provider and see if he can fit you in for an abdominal ultrasound. Gallstones have a 95% or greater chance of showing up and ultrasound is the cheapest route to check for stones. For gallbladder function a HIDA scan would be recommended if there is concern that the gallbladder is not functioning as it should. A HIDA scan is commonly recommended after an ultrasound that identifies gallbladder wall thickening, sludge, or a common bile duct dilation with no other problems such as gallstones or pancreas problems. I see you mention a groaning/ bubbling sensation but didnt mention anything about pain. Gallbladder attacks are very painful and are associated with nausea and vomiting most of the time. If you have a big gallstone(s) they dont cause problems as much as smaller stones which can become lodged in the gallbladder neck. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Sorry for the long response but I am a registered sonographer.
Yep ultrasound is medically best way to go. I too had vague symptoms that went major in a short time. The nightly ache went to sharp pain. No vomiting or fever. Had a 2+cm stone lodged in the butt of my gallbladder. Nothing but surgery could fix. If you wait too long your pancreas may become inflamed & then you are in real trouble.
