Here's a pic of my garage presently, if anybody has any other ideas please chime in. Wife won't budge in her spot in the middle lol. I suppose I can maybe put the lift in the middle spot. But thought it would look cleaner on the left hand bay.
The Bend Pak dealer here in Kansas City would NOT install a single post lift without Tearing the original garage floor out and doing a 8 x 8 pad 8" thick. The original floor was 6". That added about $4,000 to the project so I went with their 9M 4 post lift. Would have much rather have had the single post.
Happy wife = happy life I would go to the left, 2 fewer posts for her to hit versus the middle. My wife refuses to park anywhere near my 4 post.
Lifts can be installed on slopes. The manufacturer will have specific recommendations and it is easy enough to fabricate steel shims if needed. My garage slopes about half an inch every foot. I used 2 inch shims and still have a few inches of slope, but within manufacturers tolerances. 6 years no problems.
I don't think it's been mentioned. If you plan on doing any kind of service work or even just changing tires or checking brake pads the sliding jack is really a great accessory to go with your lift. This is a link to the Direct Lift jack Pro Jack 3500 I know BendPak makes them also, they are a little more sophisticated. I have a Direct Lift 4 Post, a BendPak 4 Post and an old school 2 post. I actually have two of the sliding jacks on the BendPak, it allows me to put my race car up int he air on all four corners at one time. I have a single jack on my Direct Lift. One is really adequate for most needs. The Direct Lift jack will fit on a BendPak.
Hi Rick, the car was luring me in, and the way cars are becoming so technologically advanced, most know I love visceral raw cars. This nearly takes the cake out of all the cars I've driven...a true Race car! I'll write a review shortly comparing the CGT to others after I'm able get some seat time. Are you joining us for Motor4Toys?
If you are in Canada, I just had one put in. Sells for about $2600 Canadian, Install is about $700 if you want but they are very easy to put together. Car Lift, Home and Garage Car Lifts and Car Hoist, Auto Lift - LiftSuperstore I love mine, they have a 110 and 220 option. Ask for James, Toronto Area
I bought a Bend Pak 1-1/2 years ago. I was unaware but hey went to PLASTIC fitting for the air hose, they are all failing! AND they charged me for replacement parts! The parts also came WITHOUT directions, I am not a mechanic, but eventually I figured it out. Bend Pak has cheapened their product do not purchase it.
Here is my lift from lift superstore, couldn't be happier and works in -40. Fits my viper perfectly, has steel and aluminum ramps if you want, castors that allow 1 guy to move it around the floor, and fast. Edit, this pic was taken from a high stair landing, I am 6' and can walk under neath it and I have 9' high garage doors. Image Unavailable, Please Login
looks like it's made by Eagle, very good quality, have had mine for years Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have my 360 Spider up on a Bendpak HD-9XW. It's a well made, heavy duty lift, at a great price. PM me if you want to know the retailer where I got mine. If you choose to assemble the lift yourself, please make sure you have appropriate lifts, dollies, tools, etc. to move and place the lift components. My rolling engine and motorcyle lift were invaluable for the installation, but still my back was sore for a week. This is my first installation and it took me a solid 8 hours of solo assembly time (my wife helped me raising the posts!). Per a concern noted above, if you misplace the instructions when you unpack the lift, you can download them free from the website. I printed out an extra copy, because mine was filthy after I installed the lift.
I am installing a Benpak XPR-9 in two to three weeks.Just Cut out a 4X12 foot section eight inches deep and replaced with 3K# concrete on one side of my garage to support the lift. (Discovered that the contractor who built my garage only poured 2 1/2 to 3 inches of concrete in the center, rising to 5 inches on the sides) Waiting 28 days to cure before installing.
Just completed installing a new Bendpak XPR-9 lift today, an A-symmetrical lift. Still more to do; need to hard wire 220 line to the motor, and lift the garage door 18 inches. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
