Been working on this for a while now, but it's slowly starting to come around. Everything is engraved into the wood which is about 3/4" thick. Going to put a nice metal frame around it and mount it up. Was one of those projects that took a heck of a lot longer then I thought it was going to, but the end result is well worth it. What do you guys think?

I love it. Can you make me one for a 430?

I'm pretty sure I could for just about any car. Just takes a good amount of time between the woodwork, art design, engraving, and finish work. Let me go through and add up material cost and man hours.

I'm liking this as well, and would love to have one for a 430 Scuderia. Nice job!

Thank you for all of the positive responses, I really enjoyed creating this as the normal engraving work I do isn't always as fun!

    Really cool!

Can you share what your process was to create it?

    That is awesome!

    Agreed.

If you do another one, would be cool to maybe video yourself and then do a time lapsed edit of the entire process.

I'd imagine a hand made piece like that would run $1,500-$2,000. I can't imagine the hours that went into that. Talk about steady hands.

I have plenty of wood plaques from my days in the service. Looms just like those.

    I like it.

    Here is the whole process

    Wood Work
    Hand pick the lumber
    Glue to rough size
    Cut to wanted dimensions
    Plane to even thickness
Sand starting with 100grit ending with 1000grit
    Stain
6-10 coats of polyurethane, steel wool after every coat.
    Apply tape over entire project

    Design work
Find or draw blue prints for chosen car
Use Ferrari shop manuals for engine diagrams, redraw

    Engrave Work
Convert all work into vector graphics
    Design Work in CAD program
    Engrave through tape into wood
    Apply clear coat

    Fill engraved parts with paint
Spend 3-6 beers/hours removing all tape
    Apply last clear coat.

    Frame and mounting

This one took me about 3 weeks to finish, working on it every day. I think I can get it down to under 2 weeks now that I have a good process down. I wish I could get 1500 for something like this, I'd be happy to get 500!

This one is about 24"X18" without the frame. Frame will add a few inches.

Hey guys, just for the record, Kit is a pleasure to deal with. I ordered one of his signs today and we've been talking all day and I just saw my final proof. Can't wait to see the finished product.
