I just caught word that Gary Bettenhausen just passed away.
RIP. I met him once when he came down to see one of his brother's team's test sessions at Sebring in 1997. They were great guys, very much missed in the racing community. BHW
Indianapolis 500 regular Gary Bettenhausen dies aged 72 - IndyCar news - AUTOSPORT.com Met GB many times, at Indianapolis and in sprint car races at my hometown of Dayton. When he injured his hands, he had the doctor form his fingers to hold a steering wheel, and he still raced sprints. Despite deaths in his family from racing, GB was a race driver in the true sense of the word.
