OK you experts, how do I get it back on? I popped the cover to get gas today and I heard the lid hit the pavement. I feel lucky it didn't fall off going down the highway. For your info it is essentially just glued with a heavier mastic type cement. 355 "Sticky" Spyder Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Almost as much fun as driving along and the windshield mounted rear view mirror just falls off. (Use the official Ferrari double stick pad incidently.) So it looks like the factory used some glue....try some good epoxy....not the 5-minute stuff. Jeff Pintler 89 348tb, 86TR
There are some really good new "structural" grade double sided tapes out there - try an auto refinish supply store or good bodyshop. Otherwise, urethane or acrylic adhesive from the refinish supply. A toughened epoxy would probably work, too, but the others are more flexible, so have better elogation-to-failure properties - i.e. tougher.
remodelled in carbon fiber ( hey might look cool!), save some weight, we will all do a group buy. I am going to have to check mine...(p.s. I have had the rearview mirror fall off in one of my 308s, with a passenger in the car...didn't bode well for the Ferrari image.)
I got some good two part Epoxy, very well mixed, applied extremely light and let it set overnight. It now has that German feature we all like, "Goodentight"
