I always figured if Raytheon could make cruise missles, they could make a d@mn good stove. (Thermador)

FYI, the top 3 in brand reliability according to Comsumer Reports are:
    1. Hotpoint
    2. GE
    3. Frigidaire ( )

Sadly, they don't have any listings for 48" ranges. :(

My wife loves her "La Cornue".
A bit pricey but bulletproof reliable and favorite of pros like Charlie Trotter,Sandro Gamba and others.
Julia Childs had one in every house she had, would not even cook on anything else.
From more reasonably priced ranges,"Wolf" seems to be a favorite of many Chefs ,for home use.

Try a DCS. Our new house has a 48" duel fuel model. Worked great.

Viking sucks? I just looked at some last week. One of the few ranges still made in America & have a very cool design.

These high end ranges are maintence pigs same goes with the refrigerators. I got rid of the high end stuff and got GE. No more service calls, none in the last 5 years. With the high end stuff I was call the service guy every 3 months.

funny, i have had a dacor 48" duel fuel stove and a sub zero refridge for 7 years without a single problem. Never had a service call. wait a minute. the switch that makes the light go on and off on the refridge went. sub zero sent me a new one for free after 6 years. These things were astronomically expensive, but they work great and i still like them as much 7 years later.

We are currently running the 11 foot long AGA. :) But, at our old Hacienda, we had some monster GE- it was pretty nice, although it doesn't cook as well as the AGA.
If I have a pic, I'll post it up. Hey, Ricky. You are welcome to come visit us, and our stove if you are in NY.

could be i have a lemon but im basically having them junk the viking when they deliver the new stove. I checked out a couple message boards and the vikings seem contaminated with issues and service is terrible.

whart, how u been dude? thnx for the invite but with the 2 little fockers and another on the way we dont get out much. Saw ur boy phil s couple weeks ago at ur office...will stop by next time.

My grandfather has had a Wolf 8-burner and ovens in his kitchen as long as I can remember.. over 30 years. No problems or complaints (and they get used every single day).

+1 for wolf...but ours were made by wolf...they sold the residential division to sub zero a while back and i'm not sure if that changed the quality

yeah wolf seems to get props over viking...i called 3 stores that sell both and all of them advised going with the wolf, which is actually cheaper than equiv viking.

I believe Wolf residential is equal to or the same as Viking.. the Wolf commercial grade is what I was talking about. I think they are two completely different companies now.

    Found a pic..
