my 2 gas springs for the engine hood and also for the front hood are not good anymore and after sometimes the hoods came down slowly on my head I like to replace them. but on those I can not read anymore anything right.

and I don´t want to buy the original ones for a lot of money

on the rear I read only on one side:
    elektrolift and the numbers 251003 032 ??????E 02

    the other side:
    lift-o-mat 251003 032 ????14/09 E 02

on the front springs I can not read anything

my question now: how strong are the front and also the rear? does anybody knows?

This thread has some force data for the rear gas springs for both new and old condition:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238053&highlight=SG337001

F PN = 61498100 (the one with the electrical spade connectors used on both sides of a US version TR)
    Sachs Stabilus Lift-O-Mat SG337001

F PN = 61498000 (the one without the electrical spade connectors used on one side of cars without CHMSL)
    Sachs Stabilus Lift-O-Mat SG337002

For the Front, do a search on the "SG437003" Sachs PN for the later (SN 76001 and after) cars for prior threads with some force data and discussion of alternatives:

    F PN = 61496700 (front SN 76000 and before)
Sachs Stabilus Lift-O-Mat = ? (can't recall anyone posting this)

    F PN = 61571600 (front SN 76001 and after)
    Sachs Stabilus Lift-O-Mat SG437003

Yes the "032" you are seeing = 320 Newtons or ~72 lbs. of pressure. On my 1988 TR I have both the original Elekro-Lift struts and they are stamped "0320N". Perhaps some of your ink stamp has worn off. I had mine re-serviced by LS Technologies in Canada because I wanted to keep my originals.

For the front my originals had already been replaced so when I needed a new set I used Sachs PN 402012, which were a higher pressure than OEM and just slightly longer. They fit fine and have held up with no noticeable loss of pressure for 1.5 years (so far). I have one spare at home--I'll check when I get home from work to see if it is stamped with the operating pressure

Try NAPA TurboLift: #819-5389 (front), and #819-5589 (rear). These worked fine on my '87.

    Cheers.

The Stabilus SG402012 are marked as "498N" or ~112 lbs. of pressure
