Gas tank valves

Some of our gas smell problems inside the trunk or cabins can be due to different issues including worn gaskets or gas leak. There are three valves on the top of our gas tank could be a cause when they stop doing what they suppose to do, don’t get depressed and look around and waste your money, Specially now days it is unavailable item. it is very easy to put them back in life. The valves are made from cylinders and a piston slide inside each other. In order to check the condition try to wiggle it to see if it moves up and down easily. As you see in the picture. On the top of the cylinder there is a protrusion which block the center hole at the bottom of cylinder when vacuums been created to block the gas scape from gas tank and vice versa. Taking apart is very easy use a ice pick to push the cylinder out picture 1. Use non fragment baby soap don’t use dish washer soap to wash it well and then push it back in together. Now you have new valve to start with.

What I noticed in all three valves overtime they become sticky and do not function smoothly .
If you find them cracked then they certainly needs to be replaced.
