Maybe F1 could benefit from an NFL draft system, whereby the poorest performing teams get top picks for sponsors! LOL.

Now that is a statement that should be shouted loud to the top teams in F1, to the FIA and to Ecclestone.

Protect the small teams, or you won't have a sport anymore!

Never mind about supporting the Caterham, Marussia, Sauber tail-enders that struggle to survive, but even the middle field teams like Lotus, Force India, and else need some attention. Without them the field would be depleted and racing would be among just 6 teams, at most. How long would that last?

It's all about the unfair distribution of money to teams, and why some are privileged at the expense of others.

Maybe Ecclestone thinks he can attract new teams every year to replace the departing ones, just like he can find new tracks to take over from the ones that cannot afford his fees?

It seems like a strange business method to me, not to look after existing customers, but rather entice new ones instead.

Hahahaha! As I wrote that it did occur to me regarding tokens. Maybe the teams at the bottom get more tokens so they can make more changes in season? Get more practice? The small teams will still complain that they don't have enough money to take advantage though...which goes back to better revenue sharing ; )

Exactly! I've also never heard one NFL fan complain about the system - neither the teams/fans that generate the money, nor the teams that never seem to win and don't sell as much merchandise. You also see teams at the bottom, rise to the top through discipline and hard work. So it does work.

In good news, I understand that this bid includes buying out Bernie's 5% share. I presume that is to push him out..which would be awesome IMO.

Which track do you think could support F1? You assuming they will build a new one or modify an existing one?

It took years to get revenue sharing in major league sports in the US. Now they're more profitable (and sustainable) than ever.

F1 seems more akin to what baseball/MLB used to be, a few well-heeled teams in the largest markets with ginormous local TV/cable revenue, and no brake on spending. Even MLB had to eventually face facts & realize that is if the outcome is more or less a foregone conclusion, then why should fans of teams w/ no chance bother watching, going to the stadium, buying merchandise, etc…T

Comparisons are tough here since teams own their venues but just as non contender often ups ticket prices when a big name team comes to town, The minnows (and their sponsors) share the media attention that the big name teams attract.
