A few threads have brought up those topics before (Including recent posts by @enzoferrari , @imahorse @GogglesPisano and others) so I thought it may be beneficial to summarize and let everyone comment in one place.

    1. Support and parts.

Obviously any conversion company can go out of business like any company can. As long as the parts are interchangeable with original Ferrari if anything goes wrong, a used Ferrari part or aftermarket part from another vendor can be installed. Ferrari is still in business, but not making some parts any more anyway so it's good that alternatives exist. So the availability of replacement parts should not be any different than for an OEM gated manual car.

In a rare and unlikely occasion when a part is temporarily not available from anywhere, a one-off part could be made (albeit at a high cost) or another work around could be found, just as with many classic Ferraris today.

    2. Legality of making reproduction parts.

Someone asked if Ferrari can go after parts manufacturers. I think yes, but only for violation of copyrights or for selling not Ferrari parts and claiming originality.

Obviously making parts with Cavallino is breaking the law and a prosecution can follow.

There is a huge aftermarket industry serving all the car makes and no one seems to be bothered by this, as long as "Aftermarket" disclosure is clear. Aftermarket exhaust has exact mounting dimensions as original, maybe similar looking or not in between the mounting points, no problem. So what's the difference between this and someone making a gated conversion part with the same installation points/dimensions?

    Thoughts?

Even during a concourse, if a stock part is no longer available a reasonable reproduction is acceptable to claim the points. Plus, I don't think you're allowed to have a monopoly on repair parts per law unless it's some type of patented system or contains copyrighted logos.

I'm just glad that the kit I bought has someone here on the forum that's active in the community, actually has one of the cars, is running the product, and is easy to get a hold of. I've yet to see anybody from the other companies come here and actively participate as an owner.

Thank you Joe for the kind words! Indeed I’m a Ferrari hands-on enthusiast. I’ve bought my first Ferrari over 20 years ago but FerrariChat was rather dead at that time. Completely different today – it’s a pleasure to interact with so many knowledgeable enthusiasts and professionals!

BTW, as you have stated I’m the only Gated Conversions provider who is openly active here, plus I think I’m also the only one with the following combination of skills and experience:

    1. Formal engineering education with a post graduate degree and years of corporate engineering design experience

    2. A car enthusiast having owned tens of enthusiast cars and worked on them hands on, through almost all possible engine and car configurations (4,5,6,8,12 cylinders, Wankel, electric, hybrid, turbo and not, front, mid, rear engines, water and air cooled etc). Many cars modified and converted (like a Porsche 911 conversion from fully gasoline to fully electric, certified by California DMV, etc.)

    3. A manager and business person running small and midsize businesses, managing successful products through a complete lifecycle, from ideas through development to market and post sale support etc. Knowing how and where to hire the best people and how to judge the engineering excellence or lack of it (and fire people accordingly). Years of experience also allows me to have contacts at the right factories to manufacture the top quality products.

The above allows me to provide a top quality, closest to OEM gated conversion kits at a reasonable price. Customers can rest assured that proper technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques have been used.

And here is what I do after https://CambioManuale.com/ work – a photo taken now in preparation for a 360 engine and transmission swap. And a dash swap I did right before doing a gated manual swap on this car :)
