CNN.com has a short video segment today (July 26) about a Connecticut club called "Px3" where you sign up for a 2-year contract and pay $15,000/year plus $2,000 initiation and get access to exotics (Porsche, Maserati, Lambo, not sure what else). A car time share, so to speak. I've heard of a few of these popping up around the country.

A different take on the GDC model, I guess. Noah/GDC, you know these "Px3" guys...?

(Sorry if this old news, by the way.)

i was actually looking to join one of these a year or so back. Didnt seem to fit into what I wanted. If you didnt use your credit, it was gone. If a car was hot, you would have a hard time getting into it. I rather rent when/if I wanted to drive one and just pay for it.

There are clubs like this in NYC and also on the West Coast.

It's a different business model than GDC and typically leds itself to older cars that aren't as "exotic" or desirable as the GDC fleet.

It's very similar to fractional jet ownership except for the fact that you have zero equity and essentially are buying into a timeshare.

Most of the people (both customers and non) I've spoken to about this sort of model share your views on this.

Yeah, in thinking about that news report, it seemed like that model wasn't really terribly functional. It's kind of a waste of money, really. If you've got $30,000 + disposable income you can spend on renting exotics, better to target it in the best times/weekends and for the best cars by renting individually. So in my view the GDC model makes more sense... Besides, you guys have such *SWEET* cars.

How's the Bull Run goin' Noah??
