I'm going to get a new knob for my 348. The factory one is to damn small for my hand. There are the Hill knobs and the DexM knobs....but I saw an aluminum one that was anodozed black with a white infield. I really like the 50mm size. Any thoughts on this subject?

Good thread! I am exactly opposite. I want the 43mm size. I would like to know who makes the black anodized aluminum knobs and who makes a 43mm carbon knob...

Contact Daniel at Ricambi America...his customer service is, hands down, second to none. If they can be had through him, do it.

There was a chap called Steve with a mondial T in the Uk who had his own website, he had the carbon fibre ones on there but I don't think his site is still going, I just had a quick search but couldn't find it

Its personal preference really, i've used both, my friend has the 50mm on his 355 and it looks nice also feels just as easy to use as the 43mm I have, and both are in silver, I prefer the polished ali look over a black anodized, but again its just personal preference

I have bought two from Daniel for the 348 I drive and one for my dad. I got the chromed 47mm with black infill. Looks great and fits in my hand much better. I got my dad the 47mm anodized with black infill and it also looks great, but less flashy. The only downside to the chrome is that it gets hot in the sun, so cover it with a cloth if you park in the sun. Picture of chrome knob installed below. In my opinion it is the best improvement for the money and time on my 348.

I have the same 47mm knob in my 308GT4, and I couldn't agree more with you - phenomenal improvement. There are really only a few parts of your body that actually "interact" with the car - your feet, your @ss, and your hands. I already really like the seats in my car, so I bought a new shiftknob and pedal set. I've not yet installed the pedals, but the knob is on, and I absolutely LOVE it. It's the best looking, and best feeling, shiftknob I've ever had.

The pedals are nice to install also, butplan on taking about 1-2 hours for the set. They really look great compared to the stock rubber pedal covers, and seem to stay perfectly clean also. I think the complete set with dead pedal was around $170 from Ricambi.

I had worked with Bob K at Team Voodoo to create the Aluminum knobs to my spec pre-Hill/uk. However, Bob is getting out of the business, so is ready to make some exceptional deals as he wants to sell out his stock. Contact him at www.TeamVoodoo.com

You can see one of his on my car at www.teamvoodoo.com/Voodoo/gallery/Voodoo4.jpg

I don't get anything out of this... I'm just passing along the info.

Dissenting vote here as I'm staying with the stock shift knob in my 328. It's comfortable in the sun, and my car's a GTS. Also the orange infill seems to match the gauges and switches.

I like the metal knobs, but they look too aftermarket for me.

My ergonomic "complaint" is that the lever is a bit tall - it looks elegant, but seems like one more design element to keep you from shifting fast.

Anyway I'm sure if you save your stock shift knob you can always put it back for shows and to sell the car if originality becomes an issue down the road.

Just wanted to add that the metal (i.e., high thermal conductivity) gear knobs are tough in the cold too -- it's not pleasant holding onto a 40 deg F gear knob that can suck heat out of your hand. I'd love to try a 47mm (or even a 50 mm) in my TR if it had the stock look (just stock black with the white numbering) and the material was a thermal insulator -- any suggestions?

I also didn't enjoy the metal knob in the heat!

The carbon fiber one I got works well.

I agree and have kept all the original parts for future show use and / or to sell with the car. Never throw out old Ferrari stuff. My brother recently found my dad's old tool kit from either his 2V 308 GTSi or from the Testarossa. We will be cleaning it up a bit and selling it soon.
