I could not find this in the search. I have installed a Hill bushing for my 360. Some shift box assemblies have on the right side, a hollow "piston", spring, round disc and circlip. I have seen that others have a a thin washer as well. Were they assembled both ways, with or without this washer? Mine does not have the washer. But I found this assembly has been worked on before I purchased the car and maybe it was not reinstalled. Would not having this washer affect shifting? I am ready to reassemble but before I do I wonder if this is an issue.

Can you be more specific what you are referring to? Here's the diagram.

The washer does not show in this illustration. The washer would be between 22 and 23.

I've had my assembly apart several times and I don't recall seeing a washer there. Possibly it was put in on a prior service.

I am going to put it back together as is without that “missing” washer. Thanks.

Could the washer been added as a spacer to assure that the gear shift lever (5) is centered in the metal gate (19)?

Well that was my thought. I went to put in a Hill bush but one is already there and apparently in good condition. I put the new bush in any way. So I do not believe it the bush. I could try a washer and see what happens. I can always remove it.
I am going to reassemble with the components that came with this unit. If the 1st and 2nd shift is still not smooth I’ll try the washer with the mix.
