    Hi guys,

wondered if you could shed some light on my gearbox issues.

All Gears work -all provide movement of the car

All forward gears work fine . I can go up and down the box no problems. Traffic no problems into first 2nd 3rd etc.

Problem arises going into reverse and then first - Vice versa , I am greated with a crunch.
Clutch is depressed all the way to the floor. have tried double clutching as wel lbut to no avail.

It is quite embarrasing, especially when your on mcdonalds car park and it crunches, you get all the boy racers in their saxos staring at you! or at least I did on Tuesday!!

    Any thoughs/suggestions are duly aprecaited.

    Thanks
    Nino

I haven't experienced this problem but try going from reverse to second then from second to first. See if that helps.

Try and wait a few extra seconds between depressing the clutch and putting it in gear.

When going into reverse on your Mondial 3.2 (or any Ferrari with that five-speed box), there is no synchro on reverse, so it's common to have grinding going into reverse unless you do the following:

    Depress the clutch
Slip the lever briefly into 1st
    Slip the lever into reverse
    Release the clutch

If you're getting consistent grinding going into 1st, that could be a synchro problem.

Going from second into reverse solves the problem.
Will leave it at that for the moment, next time its in the shop, will investigate further
    Thanks guys

I've heard from the experts here on the board, that the reason for the grind going into reverse is that reverse does not have a syncro, thus the need to go into a forward gear before going into reverse.
