I am running Tubi headers, stock CAT, and Tubi exhaust. My CATS sit very very close to the engine mount bolt. It really looks like they touch. If I take a large screwdriver, I can get a fair amount of play in the rubber bushing, but it does not appear to be broken.

My car had a major done right before i bought it. I did not see any engine mounts that were replaced.

It appears the bolt is too long and the threads are touching the cat. I am wondering if the bushings are worn and were overtightened, or if a spacer is missing in the mount? Or is this perfectly normal?

When i did a search for motor mounts, I read that the front ones are the ones that give the most trouble. My fronts appear very solid. Zero play. I am thinking of removing one of the rear mounts and having a closer look at it. I just wanted to check here to try and shorten the learning curve.

    Thank you.

I am going to suggest that you have the problem found right here.

The pictures show that the tranny is not being supported but has lowered itself onto the frame as the mounts collapse..

That is what I am thinking.

I read where some folks "upgrade" to a challenge mount. Is that a big advantage?

I put in challenge mounts when mine went south. You will feel a bit more vibration and the gear shifts will be a bit more precise.
